Call for Artists

The Factory Artists-in-Residence Program

The Artist in Residence (AiR) program takes place at The Factory on Willow which is a community for creators, entrepreneurs and innovators to live, work and play. Originally a shoe factory built in the 1900’s, it has since been transformed into 61 spacious studio apartments and 16 uniquely themed Airbnb studios. They have dedicated 2 of these studio apartments to the Artist-in-Residence program which is the home of two artists that are selected for each season of the year.

Repurposeful: The Art of Collage & Assemblage

After a year of social isolation, we’ve re-engaged with our local communities and learned that through cooperation there is power to effect change. RePurposeful speaks to a renewed knowledge of our interdependence, and will serve as a celebration of the alchemy that occurs when bringing disparate and diverse parts together to create something new, better, more beautiful, and more purposeful.

What kind of "collage and assemblage" work are we seeking?

We are looking to review both traditionally defined collage and assemblage. We are also looking for work that pushes these formal boundaries but is related to collage and assemblage in spirit. For instance, textile works like quilts are welcome for submission.

Wonderful Days in the midst of a pandemic

Wonderful Days

in the midst of a pandemic

OPEN CALL

Artists’ wonderful days, way out in times of a pandemic, they were full of need, and carried them from reality to the material world and their emotions. Not without difficulties, not without insecurities but with faith in the creative process.

Now that the “normality” is back, we ask the artists to share the inspiration they had when almost all stimuli were forbidden.

For a long time they created without an audience to talk live and now we all need to exorcise the uncertainty and darkness of the previous period. We want to share moments and remember emotions, to talk about the before and after of this parenthesis in our lives.
