ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE

The word paradise contains so many longings and desires, stoked for centuries. Many visions were written down, entire image compositions were created. Paradise is a special place from which we have been expelled and where want to return to. 

Really? Could it be that we overlook our quest - entry after death into this particular place, called paradise, as an elected individual?

Could it be that the decisions we make, whether for ourselves or as a community, shape this paradise? ...

BEYOND

Film and Video Umbrella have just launched our BEYOND commission. This rolling call for entries is looking for new moving image works that are made with minimal equipment, crew, and space. At present, due to the current situation with COVID-19, selected artists will have to adhere to UK government guidelines. This opportunity is open to all artists currently based in the UK. The selected artists will receive a £2,500 fee/budget, as well as remote production and curatorial support, across a two-month period. The final works will be streamed on FVU’s website and digital channels.

First round submission deadline: 18 May 2020.

“Pets” Digital Art Contest

Pixarra is announcing a call for artists for a new digital art contest under the theme of “Pets”. Submission is free of charge and is not limited in the number of entries. 2D and 3D artists from around the world are invited to show their art.

All submissions must be digital paintings created with illustration software and the participants must have the full copyrights on them. Traditional art, photographies, photo manipulations, collages and animation are not accepted.

This is an Online OPEN CALL for the exhibition that will open at The Royal @ The Royal Society of American Art on May 22nd. Artists across the globe have adapted to new methods of staying connected and keeping in touch. Satellite of Love celebrates a selection of multi-media works that are love at first sight. Satisfying, fun-loving, and tongue-in-cheek, Satellite of Love will showcase work that raises the spirits and make us pine for a long-distance relationship. Artists selected for the exhibition will be included on the RSOAA website and social media platforms.

UN x Artivive Open Call

The United Nations is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. To mark this special occasion, the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) and Artivive are launching a call for artists to create posters about peacemaking and peacebuilding, which also utilize augmented reality technology.

The leading themes are “Futuring Peace”, “Bringing together those who have been fighting,” and “Creating a bridge across peoples in conflict zones”. Artists are invited to interpret and present their own vision of what peace means, based on the history of the UN’s actions.
