| About ArtAscent:

“Abstract” International Call - Art & Literature Journal - Deadline April 30, 2019

| Theme:

Abstractions are all around us. Ideas can be abstract; existing as an idea, feeling or quality but not having a tangible existence. Some conversations can be abstract, vague and theoretical and not based on particular examples or facts. And of course, there is abstract art which evokes feelings without trying to realistically represent the appearance of people or things. Abstract art, like poetry, offers a fragment of a mysteriously familiar narrative without directly revealing it in a realistic way. Reveal your most ABSTRACT thoughts.

| Eligible Submissions:

open call for video artist. Residency in exchange for video project, Northern Italy

Looking to create the first moving images of this newly forming non-profit art center, determining its graphic identity (contemporary!), and turn it into a 3 minute kick starter video to help with the restoration process.

Will provide food and lodging for the 2 week duration of the project, take you on some art-related sight-seeing of the area, and help you with some Italian lessons.

Looking for video artists motivated by the cause, interested in expressing their personal/arty style, and in being a long term fixture of the center for years to come. Artist needs to have their own equipment.

Period, mid to end of June, 2019 (with possible date flexibility).
