Americana is an exhibition depicting the objects, people, places, history, and folklore of the United States of America. The idea of Americana is subjective and often influenced by nostalgia or stereotypes of American culture. The ethos or guiding beliefs and ideals which have come to represent America, such as freedom and The American Dream, are central to the concept. For better or worse, from amber waves of grain, an apple pie, baseball, cars, drugs, football, guns, and purple mountains' majesty, how does your work portray the melting pot of a paradox known as the United States of America?

"BODY REVEALED"

Welcome to our upcoming photo exhibition, where we invite you to explore the beauty and complexity of the human body through the eyes of talented photographers from around the world. Our theme, "Body Revealed", encompasses the diversity of the human form, from the youthful exuberance of curves to the wisdom etched in the lines of age. We invite photographers to submit their most striking and thought-provoking images, whether they be candid, defiant, modest, naked, or hidden. We welcome submissions in both black and white and color, and look forward to seeing how each photographer chooses to interpret the theme of "Body Revealed" through their unique perspective. This is a great opportunity for photographers to showcase their work and be a part of a dynamic and exciting exhibition.

Photographers and videomakers are invited to submit works that respond to the execution mode of Close-Up shooting. An open call without limits as far as the genres, styles and stories that could be told. The Close-Up is a technique that allows the revelation of details, particulars and traits that characterize the person portrayed, and identify them as unique and singular, just as their stories, their personality and their emotions are.

Guest Room: Franziska Kunze

Guest Room aims to spark collaboration. Franziska Kunze, Chief Curator of Photography and Time-Based Media at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, has chosen to collaborate with Marta Binazzi, who is Photo Archivist at the Biblioteca Berenson, Villa I Tatti, the Centre for Italian Renaissance of the Harvard University.

Together, they have developed the following framework for your submissions: “An archive is an archive is an archive”.

With “An archive is an archive is an archive” – adopted from Gertrude Stein’s echoing and brilliant quote – Franziska Kunze and Marta Binazzi want to explore the possibilities of archival matters within photography. What do photographs do in archives? What do archives do with photographs? What do you do with both?
