Call for Photography

END OF THE YEAR /OPEN THEME/

Of The Year Exhibition Open Call:
So much beauty passes us by every day, and it takes someone with a special eye to pause and immortalize the moment in a photograph. The wonder of photography is that it’s not only a showcase on the beauties of life, it’s seeing those beauties through the eyes and style of the artist themselves.
As the year wraps up and the joy of the holidays is upon us, we’re once again opening submissions for our End of the Year Photo Exhibition. This is an exciting year, because we’re doing something unique this time around. Instead of setting a theme for the submissions to follow, we’re doing a theme-free open call. Send in your most stunning works from this year. Your photograph can be anything, so go ahead and give it everything you can!

2023 Aperture Portfolio Prize

The Aperture Portfolio Prize aims to identify trends in contemporary photography and highlight artists whose work deserves greater recognition. When choosing the first prize winner and runners up, Aperture's editorial staff look for innovative bodies of work that haven't been widely seen in major publications or exhibition venues. The Aperture Portfolio Prize is open exclusively to Aperture magazine print subscribers.

In Dreams

Dreams offer us a glimpse into the realm of the unconscious. Although the images flickering and manifesting behind our eyes may seem bizarre and nonsensical, analysis of one's dreams can reveal their essence. Beneath the surface of our consciousness, the latent content of dreams illustrates the hidden meaning of our thoughts, drives, and desires. We suppress the manifestation of our unconscious to defend ourselves from primitive emotions that are especially difficult to contend with. What is revealed to you as you sleep and perchance to dream? What images make you stop and ask—am I dreaming?

Free entry│Call for Exhibition

Photographers are invited to submit 1 up to 3 photos addressing the theme.

Group Exhibition in Rome. September 2023

-

This call aims to collect monochrome photographic images containing tonal scales of gray or other chromatisms. Beginning with the black and white photographic images, the monochrome product is always intended as an abstraction of reality and as a representation of certain levels of human perception, of the visible and not, through which we gather information on the relationship of humankind with the world.
