Splendor Buttons Zine ISSUE NO. 2 ⚡️ OPEN CALL ⚡️A Zine In Solidarity

Splendor Buttons is a zine where social justice and fashion intersect.

Our premier issue, The “What Just Happened?” Issue, discussed how Social Distancing and Covid-19 exposed many pre-existing conditions in our society regarding luxury, privilege, class, and race.

Since Issue No. 1 was released, we have seen and learned of the deaths of George Floyd, Amaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and many others. All of these deaths have taken place in the background of Covid-19, a pandemic where Black Americans have been disproportionately impacted.

For Issue No. 2 — and forevermore — we are committed to standing in solidarity with Black lives, not only in the artist communities we are a part of, but in the world.

Teachable Moment

Teachable Moment

Teachable moments create space for rethinking, for cross-examination, and to draw on abstract concepts deploying them not only as method, but also as authentic behavior in the heat of the moment. It is the generative collision of authentic world experience and the practice-realm of thoughts.
