ScreenDance Intensive

In addition to viewing and discussing a plethora of dance film shorts from around the world, and getting an overview of this now international genre, participants are led through a variety of editing exercises, the preliminaries of getting coverage, examine choreography for camera - what works and what doesn’t, incorporating elements including time, distance, lighting, jump cuts, and much more. Each participant leaves with professionally shot footage of their own creation & direction.

Workshop- Single Colour Lino Cutting

Artist and printmaker Sarah Holden will take you on an introductory tour of Lino cutting. We will begin with designing a A5 print and then move on to how to cut and print a single colour image. This workshop is designed to give you the skills to make and create your own print making project at home, or to build the foundations of your wonderful journey into the world of print making.

Sarah will provide all materials needed, you just need to bring some inspiration and an apron!

Story Studio | Media + Production

Overview
Story Studio is a new program presented by the Alberta Media Production Industries Association (AMPIA) and Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, in partnership with the Government of Alberta and Alberta Film. Born out of Story Summit, this two-and-a-half-day program addresses new approaches to storytelling, innovating with technology, and developing sustainable, creative production and business models for media content.  

Participants will have the opportunity to connect with experts on the forefront of digital media and learn alongside peers in the industry to strengthen tools and knowledge to advance their careers – all in Banff Centre’s unrivalled mountain setting.

The final aim will be to acquire the main methods of the academic design and to realize a final drawing of a female portrait.

Once of the most often asked questions in the two-dimensional arts is “how do I determine the organization of the pictorial surface, how do I arrange all of the

different features of a composition in such a way as to make it visually pleasing. “

This program of study is designed for anyone who would like to more fully understand the techniques and application principles of organizing as successful visual composition.
