3D Head Scan and Print (for pairs) at MadFabLab

Want to immortalise yourself in an act of pure self-indulgence? Maybe you’d like to hand a loved one a memento as a reminder of why they love you?
In this 2 hour workshop, you and your partner will have your head 3D scanned and printed to use as a new Facebook profile picture, trinket on the mantelpiece, or as a keepsake! You'll also be able to have a go with the scanners yourselves, being careful not to glitch your partners face!
We’ll give you an overview on 3D printing and scanning, along with some knowledge that you can try at home.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for all abilities.
Equipment you’ll need
A head.
Want to surprise someone with your portrait? We also offer this workshop as a drop-in service for just £30! Just contact us directly and we'll get you booked in. Please note this service takes 30-45 minutes, with 3D printing time taking a number of hours - meaning you can scan on your head at lunch and come by at the end of the day!

3D Printed Emojis at MadFabLab

Description:
Want to make your own IRL (in real life) Emoji?
On this two hour workshop you'll learn the basic principles of 3D modelling using free online software Tinkercad. Using the cube tool, you'll build a 3D model of your favourite emoji - or create your own! You'll then export your file to be printed using Ultimaker 3 software - Cura. The MadFabLab team will then print these for you to collect.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for all abilities, and we welcome beginners with no previous experience.

3D Laser Cut Emojis at MadFabLab

Want to bring your favourite Emoji into the physical realm using free 3D modelling software?
On this 2.5 hour workshop, you'll learn the basic principles of 3D modelling using free online software Tinkercad. Introduction to Live Visuals using VDMX at MadFabLab

Want to learn one of the most powerful live video-manipulation programmes out there?
This 6 hour workshop will introduce you to the basics of the live video manipulation software, VDMX. Participants will learn the interface, how to mix videos and apply effects, as well as the artistic principles of live video performance. This process is also a great experimental way of making audio-visual pieces without time-consuming software.
Who is this course for
This workshop is aimed at people with no prior knowledge of VDMX. Participants will need to be confident with using computers, and preferably with a knowledge of music and/or video software.
If you think this course may be too advanced for you, please contact us and we talk you through the workshop :)
Equipment needed
All equipment will be provided on the day, though you are welcome to bring your own laptop and MIDI controller. Please note VDMX is a MacOS based software, so your laptop will need to be loaded with MacOS.
We can also provide you with plenty of video material to get you started, though you might want to bring your own. Please be aware that HD videos tend to cause machines to lag, so standard resolution and under is prefered - please contact us prior to the workshop if you are unsure.

Code-A-Drone for adults at MadFabLab

MakoEducation’s Code-A-Drone workshop shows participants the power of coding in a fun and creative environment.
During this workshop, you will learn how to pilot a mini-drone using block-based coding and swift. After mastering how to take off, fly, turn, do stunts and land safely, you will be given a range of challenges that put these new skills to the test.
Participants will be provided with an iPad to write their code and a mini-drone to attempt the different challenges. No previous coding or drone flying experience is necessary.
We recommend that all participants are aged 16+
We are offering two types of tickets for this workshop so please ensure you are purchasing correctly:
Never-Drone-Alone: Share in the act of coding with our +1 tickets. You’ll get to share your mini-drone with a friend/loved one/bearable colleague
Code-A-Drone-Alone: If you can’t bear the idea of sharing your mini-drone, this ticket will allow you to enjoy the activities all to yourself
