Cut-Out Animation is one of the simplest but most imaginative forms of animation. From the pioneering work of Lotte Reiniger, to Ivor the Engine and South Park - not forgeting Terry Gilliam's surreal Monty Python animations. In one day get to grips with this fabulously simple technique and create your own animated sequence.
Spaces are limited so please book in advance to avoid disappointment. This is a hands-on workshop. It is suitable for individuals with no previous animation experience.

Hi all. The first edition of Coco Mbassi's Rhythm workshops went very well! :-D
So well in fact... that we're doubling the length of the workshops!
To recap, here's what to expect:
For whom: All 15+ rhythm and music lovers including professional musicians... with a heartbeat... (whether or not you're good at holding a rhythm)
What: We will explore rhythm using our hands and/or percussions (BYO) including beats, simple and complex time signatures, subdivisions, and more. In the 2nd part, we will include movement in the exploration of rhythm.
Where: Arts Depot in North Finchley.
Cost: £8 per hour so for 2 hours that's £16.

INTENSIVE EXPLORATION OF YOUR VOICE
Two days of intensive exploration of your Voice. Voice does not exist away from Body, and we will be exploring this particular relationship between the two. This time with more focus on sound, on words, on song. It feels easy to stretch our bodies, but can we stretch our voice? To stretch your voice means to broaden the way we use it.
This workshop will give a Chance to explore the voice in relations with movement, rhythm, imagination and spatial awarness.
Contemplating the use of our voice through series of different, yet simple physical and vocal excercises. Sometimes people say "an organic use of the voice" or "natural voice" or "freeing your voice". I believe that one of the greatest tools for our voice is ... Imagination.
The workshop is designed for performers who have already had some vocal training.

MODArts Dance Collective (MADC) is elated to announce its free Collective Thread Residency for women/womyn identifying people of color ages 18+ on Sunday June 2, 9, 16, & 23, 2019 10 AM-4 PM at Downtown Art, 70 E 4th Street, 10003. The four week residency will culminate in an informal showcase on Saturday, June 29, 2019 2 PM at Downtown Art. The residency is an incubator for women/womyn identifying people of color to focus on shaping their creative voices through journaling, round table discussions, and movement based classes. This residency will allow women/womyn identifying people of color the opportunity to share their often silenced voices as well as create a platform for communities of color to have more accessibility and exposure to the kind of art that reflects their rich and varied histories and culture. All participants are asked to attend all four Sundays and the informal showcase on Saturday, June 29. Registration will be open until 11:59 PM on Monday, May 6 and all applicants will be notified by EOD on Monday, May 13.

For who: Suitable for all music lovers (15+), musicians and non-musicians, singers, dancers, so not specifically drummers/percussionists. #

HKS Architects have invited the Bedroom Artists Collective to create an extraordinary art exhibition producing work in response to the theme of ‘Social’.
‘Social’ - relating to human societies, interactions, and new associations of the digital age - has elicited a wide variety of responses from our artists through film, screen printing, painting, sculpture and live performance. We have transformed the beautiful building that houses HKS Architects into an exhibition open to all.
