Theatre Technician

Just The Tonic are still seeking a few enthusiastic freelance Venue technicians for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2022. 

We have had a presence at the Fringe for over 15 years, We will have over 160 shows in 19 different venues. Our programme this year will cover mostly comedy with a couple of other genres thrown in for good measure. 

The Dates for this position are from July 31st to August 30th not including August 15th.  You must be able to commit fully to all dates. Rate of pay is £14 per show per day with venues averaging 9 shows per day. 

Most of our positions will be all day as you will be the sole responsible technician for your designated space, however, we do now have a few half day (4pm to midnight-ish) positions available as well.

Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with set up and pack down of all our venues and spaces.
Operating lights and sound during our shows.
Maintaining all equipment in your space.
Maintaining all health and safety standards.
Working with front of house staff to ensure shows start and end on time. 
Various other reasonable requests from the management team.
Other supporting admin tasks
Reporting any faults or problems to management.

Who we are looking for;
You must be competent using basic lighting and sound equipment
Excellent problem solving skills
Ability to work independently without direction or oversight.
Keep calm under pressure
High Attention to detail
Have a “can do” attitude and not be afraid to get stuck in.

To clarify, this position is for a Venue technician and not for an individual show. If you cannot commit to all of the dates and times above then the position is not for you.

Due to most of our shows being Comedy, most of our set up’s are quite basic. Sound is normally 1 microphone and a laptop for music. Lights are 1 profile and a few LED par cans. As such this role would suit somebody still studying or with limited experience. But we do have a few larger rooms that will require more experience.
