MELTING METROPOLIS COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MANAGER-
GRADE 8 – (0.4 FTE)
£43,415 - £51,806 pa (pro rata)
We are seeking an experienced and creative community engagement specialist to lead the successful
delivery of the community engagement strategy of a new, five-year international research project at the
University of Liverpool (UoL). You will support the project team in delivering the Wellcome Trust-funded
project ‘Melting Metropolis: Everyday Histories of Health and Heat in London, New York, and Paris since
1945’. We are looking for a Community Engagement Manager who can build and strengthen
relationships with communities in specific districts of London, Paris, and New York. While the role will
largely involve remote working, it does require relatively easy access to London where the majority of
community engagement activities will take place.
Leading on community co-design and coproduction, this is a great opportunity for a highly creative and
motivated Community Engagement Manager to develop new ways of narrating, visualising, and
understanding the changing fabric of urban life in an age of climate breakdown. The project aims to
highlight the multi-dimensional experiences of urban heat and health, while recognising that, as in other
instances of environmental justice, historical experiences and inequalities need to be addressed to pave
the way for more equitable health outcomes. You will require excellent communication and
interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to the principles and practice of equality, diversity and
inclusion. You will have a degree (or equivalent qualification or relevant professional experience).
This post is available from 1 September 2023 -31 January 2028.
