Sound Design and co-creation with young people. A paid development opportunity with Company Three and ASD.

Company Three are looking for three or four early-career sound designers to help us develop new first-stage plays co-created with young people. This is an opportunity to learn how sound design works in a co-creation process, with mentoring from Company Three and leading sound designers from the Association of Sound Designers.

The opportunity
You will work with a C3 director and a group of 10-15 young people over eight days as they devise and rehearse a 30-minute first-stage devised play. Four to five of these days will be over the development week, to create a scratch sound design to support the sharing of the play, with the remaining three days agreed flexibly by you and the director over rehearsals (which could also be broken into some half days for greater flexibility).

Key Dates
Flexible attendance on Monday evenings and other meetings in March 3rd - 27th

Play 1 / Sound Designer 1 - Development week - 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6 April

Play 3 / Sound Designer 3 - Development week - 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6 April

Fee
£150 per day / 8-day contract. Total Fee: £1200

Who we’re looking for
This is an opportunity for sound designers at an early stage of their career who want to learn more about co-creation and/or work with young people. We are particularly keen to support sound designers who come from backgrounds under-represented in theatre and who share experience and backgrounds with our diverse company of young people. You must have or be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Mentoring
ASD will provide a personal mentor to support your work on the project, with at least three sessions to focus on your development.
