Summer Camp Counselor / Instructor

• Employment Dates:  Orientation: June 23, 24, 25 / Summer Camp: July 6 - August 21 (7 weeks)
• Hours: M-F 8:30-4pm (alternates weekly staying until 5)
• Compensation: $21/hr for summer employment & training

General Responsibilities: Responsible for daily supervision of campers & implementation of summer camp curriculum. It is the Counselor / Instructor’s duty to keep to the camp’s schedule and ensure that all children are safe and happy.

Specific Duties: Daily management of 12-20 campers with another Counselor / Instructor at Textile Arts Center and local parks.  Primarily responsible for leading textile art classes, leading free-time/free-craft and organized play, and leading attendance at drop off and dismissal. Position also entails: occasional late stay, administering first aid or summoning emergency help as needed; maintaining group medical log; escorting campers to and from all activities and walkable field trips; on-going evaluation of programming by photographing work, updating lesson plans if needed, and other administrative tasks.

Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age to apply. A background in youth education with strong classroom management skills, proactive, gives and takes direction well and always willing to help. Strong applicants are experienced in a creative classroom environment, with interest and knowledge in the arts, in particular textiles. CPR and First Aid certification is included in training.
