Monique Meloche Gallery is immediately seeking an experienced Gallery Director. This is a multifaceted leadership role in a close-knit environment, which requires the ability to work well independently and with others on a variety of projects and tasks of varying sizes and timelines. The gallery is in an exciting forward-looking moment of program development, so the right candidate will have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a growing contemporary art gallery specializing in emerging and mid-career artists.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 7 years gallery experience, including a proven track record in sales and client development.  The Director will be responsible for creating, developing, and sustaining relationships with clients and institutions, and for acting as a liaison with gallery artists. Candidate should be familiar with contemporary art discourse, and well versed in gallery operations, including artist relations, communications, exhibition and art fair logistics and management, inventory, shipping, production, and general administration day-to-day tasks.  This is a full-time position and requires flexibility for additional hours based on the needs of the gallery, including travel for art fairs, openings, and meetings with clients and artists.

Requirements:

-Previous experience with sales and artist management at a contemporary art gallery or similar arts space, including some experience in a supervisory capacity.

-Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to draft, design and format press releases and exhibition materials

-Demonstrated experience managing/overseeing a robust exhibition program 

-Punctual, proactive, and detail oriented with exceptional problem-solving skills

-Capacity to prioritize and multi-task to meet deadlines

-Proficiency in Art Logic or similar collections management software strongly preferred

-Bachelor’s degree with a background in art history, fine arts or a similar field required; Master Degree a plus
