Summer Camp Art Center Staff

Come and have the summer of your life in the mountains of New York and only 2 hours from New York City! Camp Lokanda is looking for energetic, motivated and positive individuals to join our staff this summer!

We are looking for General Counselors, Activity Counselors and Senior Staff for our various Creative Arts and Performing Arts areas.

Many of our staff, from a variety of majors, have been able to gain internship credit through their school. We provide a great salary and travel package, as well as housing, laundry and meals for the summer.

Our General Counselors supervise their campers throughout the day at meals, daily activities, and in the bunks. General Counselors get to experience all of the activities that we have at camp, with your campers! We are looking for both male and female General Counselors to work with all of our age groups (from 7 years old up to 16 year olds).

Our Activity Counselors share their skills with campers who rotate through their activities. They also get involved with the campers in the bunks, at meal times, and at evening activities. Some of our activity areas include:

• Creative Arts: Ceramics, Art, Woodshop, Cooking
• Performing Arts: Yoga, Dance, Music, Drama

Our Senior Staff are an integral part of our camp. We look for creative, energetic and organized individuals to lead our various activities at Camp Lokanda. Senior Staff live in private housing (not with campers) and work in our office, on our administration team, at our health center, or lead our Activity Areas. Demonstrated experience in managing, evaluating, and supervising staff is preferred.

Dates:

June 13, 2021 to August 14, 2021 (tentative). Some activity staff come earlier for training.  We will confirm actual start date in early Spring.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years of age and have completed one year of college by the summer.
• Prior experience working with children is preferred.
• Prior experience teaching a specific skill or leading art activities is preferred.

About Camp Lokanda:

Camp Lokanda is one of the premier camps on the eastern coast of the United States. We are located 2 hours from New York City, set in the amazing Catskill Mountains, on Lake Loch Ada, from which we named our camp. We have been around for over 80 years. We are a coed traditional sleep-away camp and have about 475 campers, ranging from ages 7 to 16 and 250 staff.
