Gander & White Los Angeles is a full-service fine arts logistics facility serving the local, domestic, and international private client, museum, gallery, auction house and interior design communities. We are an 86-year-old company with branches in three countries, including 5 in the USA. We seek an experienced, positive-thinking, and organized individual to join our staff as the International Shipping Manager.

Primary Job Description:
The International Shipping Manager will oversee the international shipping arms of our thriving fine-arts logistics operation. These include both import and export shipments, domestic airfreight shipments, IAC responsibilities, and TSA security coordination. The International Shipping Manager will work very closely with the local trucking, crating and warehouse departments, as well as with our regional branches in the USA and our overseas branches in the UK and France. The International Shipping Manager will work closely with the Branch Director on maintaining quality controls within this department. This position reports to the Branch Director and works closely with all staff members in both the office and operations departments.


-    Client communications including but not limited to estimating, coordinating, and invoicing domestic airfreight and international shipping projects, and any other shipments as necessary

-    Coordinate bookings of air & ocean shipments, track cargo shipments, advise status to overseas agents as requested, process all documentation required for export orders, amend documents per agents/customers request and correlate information between airline, steamship lines and oversea agents


-   Coordinate logistics of all shipments for specified customers and provide day to day customer service while correcting any discrepancies that may hinder shipments

-    Review and arrange export documents (packing list, freight, and insurance., customs, various export control agencies)

-    Interact with customers and colleagues to provide information in response to inquiries regarding the company’s international forwarding and logistics operations to facilitate both new and existing transportation/freight operation systems.

-    Coordinate with sales, departments, agents, and other carriers to maintain effectiveness and efficiency of the company’s international forwarding and logistics operations.

-    Respond to and answer pertinent questions from customers regarding shipping and country regulations, required information, invoices, quotas, and other queries.

-    Review all entries, client invoice packages and file record keeping prior to submitting to supervisor for payment and final review.

-Act as GWLA TSA Security Coordinator: oversee our Vernon facility as a CCSF; coordinate TSA staff training; maintain TSA records in accordance with regulations; act as liaison for all TSA audits, communications, or visits; protect sensitive security information per regulations; liaise with other vendors and clients regarding TSA compliance.

-Work with Branch Director in growing and developing GWLA’s international business, with both our overseas branches, networks of agents, and local and foreign clientele.

-Streamline international shipping processes, procedures, filings, etc.


● Experience working in international shipping at a fine art logistics company, art gallery, museum, freight forwarding company or similar environment preferable.
● Thorough knowledge of fine art logistics, client communication, US import/export procedures
● Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, G&W proprietary Eos System and working knowledge of database programs.
● Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
● Thorough attention to detail.
● Strong writing and communication skills.
● Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently, interacting in a professional manner with co-workers, vendors and clients.
● Available to work occasional evenings and weekends.
