Doug Aitken Workshop, an internationally acclaimed art and multimedia studio, is seeking a Studio Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the studio and support production, exhibitions and archiving.

This role sits at the center of the studio’s activity, working closely with the artist, studio leadership and internal team members, fabricators, galleries, museums, and external partners. The ideal candidate is proactive, calm under pressure, deeply organized, and comfortable managing many moving parts at once.

Key Responsibilities

Artist Support & Personal Assistance

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and organizational support to the artist

  • Manage calendars, scheduling, meetings, and reminders

  • Coordinate travel logistics as needed, including flights, accommodations, and itineraries

  • Draft, track, and follow up on correspondence on behalf of the artist

Office & Studio Administration

  • Oversee daily administrative operations of the studio

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for incoming inquiries and external communications

  • Draft and manage professional correspondence with galleries, institutions, and partners

  • Support budgeting, invoicing, and expense tracking

  • Maintain organized records, files, and documentation

  • Support coordination with studio staff, contractors, and vendors

Scheduling, Logistics & Coordination

  • Assist with exhibition- and project-related logistics from an administrative standpoint

  • Liaise with service providers, shippers, and external partners as needed

  • Track timelines and ensure administrative follow-through

Studio & Property Oversight

  • Assist with general management of the studio property, including vendors, maintenance, and supplies

  • Support basic oversight of the artist’s additional properties, including routine logistics and vendor communication

  • Help ensure all workspaces function smoothly and professionally

Archiving & Asset Coordination

  • Maintain organized digital file systems and archives

  • Coordinate delivery of photography, video, and press assets when required

  • Ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and shared with relevant parties

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in in a contemporary art studio, gallery or museum, alternatively similar experience in office administration, studio administration, or personal assistance

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting schedules

  • High level of discretion, reliability, and professionalism

  • Comfortable working independently while supporting a small team

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and standard office tools

  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite
