Title: Studio Archivist
Schedule: 3 days a week, to be discussed.
Primary location: Brooklyn
Tasks and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Primary Responsibilities
Archival
Digitize archival materials and maintain digital archive
Scan and upload new and historical work, enter it into the studio database with complete work details
Ensure that all existing/historical artworks are in the system and labeled
Ensure that new and existing artwork in the studio or storage is professionally photographed
Log condition notes and potential conservation needs
Organize and maintain studio admin records
Maintain studio artwork records
File and digitize shipping BOLs, invoices, receipts, other paperwork
Organize and maintain printed archival materials such as ephemera, photos,
press, publications
Secondary Responsibilities
Administrative and Communication
-Schedule and assist with meetings and appointments, including:
In-person studio visits
Telephone calls and zoom calls
Pickups and dropoffs: artworks, supplies
-Assess artwork for framing, conservation, photography, packing and crating needs, and liaise with gallery to organize accordingly
-Liaise with external photographers and art handlers when needed
-Communicate studio updates on a regular basis with artist’s gallery
Studio
-Organize and maintain studio space
-Order and organize tools, supplies and materials
-Assist with general office tech
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Art History, Art Administration or similar focus/experience preferred
