Position Overview:  The New York School of Interior Design, an accredited, independent institution of higher education devoted entirely to the discipline of interior design and its related professions, seeks an individual to serve as Design & Content Manager.  The Design & Content Manager will oversee the content, design and production of NYSID’s website and all digital and print publications and internal advertising, working with NYSID staff and faculty to ensure brand alignment and consistency with institutional messaging and brand identity. The position is editorial, technical, and creative in nature; the Manager develops project briefs and requirements, oversees content generation, and coordinates both internal and external production teams. The Manager will help further reinforce a cohesive identity and messaging, and look for new opportunities to present NYSID as industry/educational thought-leaders.

Job Responsibilities:

Manage design, production and mailing of all marketing materials including catalogs, course bulletins, postcards, flyers, targeted direct mail, event signage and development support materials, ensuring adherence to NYSID Style Guide and brand identity.

Serve as lead point person on development and production of Atelier NYSID’s magazine produced bi-annually which captures the school’s and alumni’s contributions to the greater interior design industry.  It serves as an important tool for both recruitment and development efforts.

Partner with NYSID’s external advertising agency by contributing institutional information and creative assets as needed; attend in media reporting and actively participate in annual planning of media efforts.

Work with NYSID staff and faculty to develop, art direct, and execute print/web campaigns for traditional and non-traditional media

Work closely with NYSID senior staff to develop strategic marketing and media plans
Create and manage e-mail newsletter, developing schedule, and tailoring communication to targeted audiences

Serve as liaison with other departments to ensure all areas of NYSID are represented on the School’s website and that all audiences are served

Coordinate with the Technology Department and outside consultants to ensure website is functioning properly; track, analyze, and report on website activity

Contract and serve as main liaison with outside vendors which may include: photographers, graphic designers, digital media producers, writers, and printers to production schedule and budget requirements

Oversee management of digital assets including event photography, student projects, documentation of exhibitions, etc.

In partnership with Communications Coordinator, promote NYSID online through social media sites such as Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, YouTube. Ensure that social media content is integrated and displayed properly on all channels.

Oversee and collaborate with the Digital Content and Media Coordinator on the development of planned video content development for website and other venues

Manage photography assets for online and print publications and oversee photo shoots for special events, programs, etc.

Working with Director of External Relations and external partners, manage the development and launch of a new website beginning Jan 2022, serving as managing editor, engaging a web developer, overseeing content, effective UX/UI design and use of new CMS. Update content regularly and ideally have familiarity with tracking website performance through Google Analytics; modify strategies based on UX and analytics

Help the External Relations Department as needed including hands-on involvement with Commencement related activities.

Perform all other related duties as assigned


Bachelor’s degree required (Communication, Marketing or Visual Design preferred).  Minimum 5 years’ experience in creative/graphic design, multi-channel content creation, preferably for an art or design college.  Must possess excellent presentation skills, creative development, writing, editor and proofreader skills.  Must possess excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to multi-task and manage priorities. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.  Competent with Microsoft applications, especially PowerPoint.  Flexibility and willingness to work some nights required.
