Our upcoming online Art Café will teach you everything you need to know about exhibiting at Public Art Galleries and Museums. This session is for artists of all levels who would like to understand the best tips for finding opportunities and the application process for submissions. Public Art Galleries have long been a source of information, shaping the knowledge and minds of artists. Going from visitor to exhibitor is certainly achievable, with many institutions hosting engagement programmes for contemporary artists.

Key learning outcomes:

• Steps to finding the right exhibitions for you

• Do’s & Don’ts of applying to open submission opportunities to exhibit

• How to prepare a strong portfolio and be exhibition ready

• Actionable points for you to get started with Public Art Galleries and Museums

For this session, we will be joined Stephanie Dieckvoss, Associate Lecturer at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London Art Market Correspondent, and Journalist, as well as Stephen Snoddy, Director The New Art Gallery - Walsall, Honorary Member of the Royal Ulster Academy, and Visiting Professor Manchester School of Art 2019 – 22.

Dieckvoss has over 15 years of experience in commercial art galleries and art fairs. Stephanie also managed the Anish Kapoor Exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery. She was Fair Manager for Frieze Art Fair from its launch until 2006, Co-Director of Art HK: Hong Kong International Art Fair from 2007-2009 and Fair Director of Art 13-Art15 from 2012 – 2014.

Snoddy also has decades of industry experience in art galleries and exhibitions, having been the Exhibitions Organiser at Arnolfini Gallery, the Exhibitions Director of Cornerhouse, Manchester, the director of the construction of the Milton Keynes Gallery, and several other directorial projects. He took up painting again in 2013 and has had his work shown in public art collections around the globe.

The Art Café will take place via Zoom Webinar at 14.00 GMT on Thursday 18th May 2023. Spaces limited.
