Wells Art Contemporary 2022 Exhibition

Wells Art Contemporary (WAC), returns in 2022 for its 11th edition. Established in 2012 by artists for artists, Wells Art Contemporary (WAC) is an open competition for innovative visual art. Based in the beautiful cathedral city of Wells, Somerset, this yearly exhibition aims to support creatives, stimulate debate, and push the boundaries of the visual arts scene both nationally and internationally.

This year’s exhibition received over 3,200 submissions from 1,600 creatives, hailing from 47 different countries. After much deliberation, the judging panel of Matthew Burrows MBE, Dale Lewis and Nana Shiomi, selected a shortlist of 123 artworks from 113 artists. 

The shortlisted artworks showcase an array of disciplines and mediums across painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, mixed media, sculpture and installation. The exhibition will be on display from Saturday 30 July to Sunday 28 August 2022, with the Private View on Friday 29 July. The show will be available online through a virtual exhibition with corresponding dates.

The exhibition will also provide a platform for audiences to view the work of world-famous sculptor Antony Gormley.
