About the Internship
The Community Outreach Intern will gain broad exposure to non-profit management and fundraising including development operations, donor and sponsor communication, social media, event planning, logistics, and research. During this 5-month program, you’ll build your communication and campaign-building skills, add tangible projects to your portfolio, build a community of supportive peers, and learn business management, communication, and outreach skills that will support you in any position.
The position will report to the Social Media Manager and Executive Director and work in conjunction with other interns. This position requires a minimum of 5 months and 10-15 hours per week. During the program, interns will join weekly team meetings and will be given bi-weekly readings and assignments.
About WRF
We Roam Freely Inc. is a non-profit organization that works to uplift WOC and non-binary artists of color by prioritizing accessible showcasing, unrestrictive grants, immersive residencies, and intentional conversations. Founded in April 2019, WRF has organized two in-person art shows, a virtual showcase and panel discussion, and various community events and collaborations. Our events provide staffing opportunities for BIPOC communities as well as spotlight WOC and BIPOC artists without collecting a commission. Our focus in 2021 is to increase brand acquisition, develop new partnerships with like-minded individuals and organizations, meet our funding goals, and meaningfully impact the careers of BIPOC artists.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the development and implementation of donor communications via social media, email, and phone
Conduct donor, sponsor, and/or partnership research
Maintain donor, sponsor, and partner relations and database
Assist with aspects of event planning, programming coordination, and logistics
Develop new and modern acquisition campaigns via social media or events
Draft press releases and email templates
Create and implement strategic partnerships that increase brand acquisitions
Requirements
Passion for non-profit work, social impact, and/or uplifting the WOC and non-binary BIPOC communities
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal skills
Willingness to take the initiative and learn
Ability to conduct individual research, adapt, and pick up new skills
Flexibility
Must have reliable internet access & a laptop/tablet
Preferred
Experience using Google Drive, MailChimp (preferred but not required)
General understanding of social media (Instagram & LinkedIn) brand promotion, and influencer marketing (preferred but not necessary)
Experience or understanding of MailChimp, email marketing software
Experience with community outreach, the concept of influencer marketing
Work Hours & Benefits
10-15 hours per week with a 1-2 hour weekly team meeting
School credit, if currently enrolled
Recommendation letter upon request

Build relationships with artists and industry peers
This is an unpaid internship. Through this interactive programming, you will produce, learn, and attain key knowledge to further your career.
Selection Process
All candidates will be notified by April 24th with the status of their application. Selected candidates will have a brief interview with WRF team members and will be notified of program acceptance by April 2nd.
