Art Gallery Internship 

About Mariane Ibrahim: 

Roughly seven years after founding her namesake gallery in Seattle, Ibrahim and her program officially launched their next space in Chicago, September 20, 2019 during the latest edition of EXPO Chicago. The gallery’s new 5,000 square-foot space in the city’s West Town neighborhood doubles the square footage of the gallery in the Pacific Northwest, Seattle.

Mariane Ibrahim has hosted acclaimed exhibitions from leading and emerging artists including Amoako Boafo, Clotilde Jimenez, Maimouna Guerresi, Ayana V. Jackson, Lina Iris Viktor and most recently Florine Démosthène. The gallery has had an international presence at art fairs with acclaimed and prize-winning presentations. Mariane Ibrahim will exhibit at Art Basel Miami for the first time in December 2019 with a solo presentation of works by Amoako Boafo.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITES & DUTIES:

The Gallery Intern provides administrative support for the Directors and Registrar. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills and the individual must also be organized, computer proficient, able to multi-task, meet deadlines, and problem solve. The candidate will provide support with office management, exhibition and event planning, artist management and marketing coordination. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Provides assistance to Director with scheduling, travel arrangements, correspondence, preparation, etc. 

Assists Registrar with daily tasks and coordination of artworks, both internally and amongst external projects. 

Provides administrative support to curatorial and administrative staff, including filing, photocopying, and processing.

Creation of designs for marketing collateral and website / portfolio assistance. 

Presence and support for exhibition openings and gallery events.

Other related duties, to be decided. 

REQUIREMENT:

Passion about Contemporary Art and the desire to support established and emerging artists. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience and Skills:

Experience with basic computer applications including Word, Google Apps, some Adobe experience preferred. 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills required.

Knowledge and Education:

BA degree required or sufficient background in art history, art studio, art education, or art administration.
