ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Enthusiastically and diplomatically works in tandem with lead handlers in the field; exhibits a friendly and approachable demeanor with clients and acts as a positive ambassador for the overall Project.

• Handles, packs and installs artwork at private offices, galleries and residences, as well as in our viewing rooms and galleries; professionally secures and transports artwork, all in accordance with museum standards.

• Assists the registration department with labeling artworks and preforming condition reports; expertly stores and tracks artwork in our warehouse, as well as our vehicles, in accordance with museum standards.

• Anticipates bookings/projects and takes all necessary steps to streamline the incoming and outgoing processes.

• Offers respectful communication to all team members and clients.

• Is part of a rotation of handlers that embark on a monthly Los Angles shuttle.

• Is available for occasional work outside the greater Bay Area.

• Attends weekly department meetings, as well as occasional programming events at 1275 Minnesota Street.

• Keeps vehicles and warehouse consistently clean and useable, bringing a proactive approach.

• Inventories supplies and administers reuse/recycling policies.

• Performs other related duties as required.

• Available to work 5 consecutive days of the week, between the hours of 8am and 6pm.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience at a museum, gallery or art shipping organization; demonstrated expertise in art handling techniques, packing, crating and storing protocols, as well as client relations and team communication.

• Art transportation and shipping knowledge; Valid CA license and ability to drive a 16 – 26’ box truck.

• Professional commitment and adaptability; willingness to safely shift directions for the need of the artwork or client, in a moment’s notice.

• Experience, operating material moving equipment (VRCs, forklifts, scissor lifts, material lifts, gantries and pallet jacks).

• Outstanding communication and ability to take direction and ask for assistance, as needed, ensuring projects stay on schedule.

• Demonstrates concern for detail, accuracy and precise execution of work, all while being adaptable and willing to learn a new direction or skill.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.

• Works well independently and as a team; gracefully shifts, as directed, between warehouse, client and office settings, whilst communicating along the way.

• Ability to safely lift 50+ lbs individually and 75+lbs as a team.

• Proficient with PC and Mac operating systems, including Adobe and Microsoft Suites and FilemakerPro. Ability to educate others on digital platforms, as needed.

Adhering to the best art handling practices, we package, install, transport, inventory, and store artwork in conformance with museum standards, with 100% of our profits going to supporting and sustaining Bay Area arts and culture. Our 50,000 ft2 storage facility located in San Francisco, CA, features state-of the art environmental-control and security systems, as well as an attractive viewing room and photography facility.

Minnesota Street Project is currently seeking a full-time Lead Warehouse Art Handler, with expert art handling skills, to join our team of arts professionals.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Exhibits a friendly and approachable demeanor with MSP staff, clients, and vendors, acting as a positive ambassador for the overall Project; ensures strong communication is facilitated and deadlines are continually met.

• Leads warehouse crew in daily work orders (packaging and handling artwork) and installs for client viewing room appointments, stages outgoing artworks, anticipates incoming shipments by designating spaces in advance of deliveries, and assists with loading and unloading of trucks for shipments and field jobs.

• Moves stored objects in warehouse, maximizing spatial utilization while maintaining artwork safety

• Assists the Registration department with measuring and barcoding incoming artworks; condition reports artworks on an as-needed basis.

• Leads training exercises on packing, handling and installation techniques as necessary

• Keeps warehouse consistently clean, useable, and client-ready, bringing a proactive approach; inventories and readies supplies for field teams; administers reuse and recycling policies.

• Prioritizes the safety of personnel and artworks, adhering to company operational guidelines at all times

• Assists in upkeep of warehouse equipment and systems including forklift and HVAC

• May require occasional field work including packing, delivery and installation of artworks in client’s homes, offices

and galleries

• Attends weekly department meetings and performs other related duties as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experienced operating warehouse equipment (VRCs, forklifts, walkie stackers, and pallet jacks)

• Valid drivers license.

• Ability to lift 50 lbs safely.

• Proficient with PC and Mac operating systems and software, including Adobe and Microsoft Suites and Filemaker Pro; familiarity with G Suite and CRMs.

• BA in Visual Arts, Humanities, Art History or equivalent a plus.

Long Island City based artist is seeking a highly motivated New York-based individual to work 5 days per week as a studio technician and assistant.
The candidate will work with the artist on a wide variety of projects, and should have significant experience to attend to all aspects of the artist’s studio activities.

Requirements:
-Excellent hand and production skills, extremely organized and detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
-Ability to support the artist in all areas of production, especially with artwork fabrication and shop work.
-Ability to support with sourcing, research, filing and archiving.
-Three years experience in sculptural processes and fabrication is necessary, including casting, mold making, welding, wood and metal working.
-Comfort and willingness to work with resin (polyurethane, urethane), silicone, wax, wood, metal and other sculptural materials.
-The candidate should be self-motivated, capable of working independently and proactively to solve problems at hand.
- Must be able to lift heavy boxes and objects (50lbs plus).
-An interest in contemporary art, art production and a familiarity with various studio practices are advantageous.
-An interest in sound, video and multimedia highly preferred as this is central to the artist’s practice.
-Knowledge of PC and Mac platforms, Microsoft Office, and Photoshop strongly preferred.

The candidate should have a familiarity with the artist Kevin Beasley's work and have an extensive knowledge of black contemporary art and related issues.
This position is paid hourly, and salary is commensurate with experience. Start date as early as May 3rd.

  • Liaise with HNW collectors in the London market.
  • At least 5 years of high end art sales experience required. 

100k OTE is perfectly achievable.

  • You’ll be experienced at liaising with HNW collectors in the London market. Naturally you’ll demonstrate excellent networking skills including developing relationships with museums and institutions. You’ll represent this blue chip gallery at art fairs, art business events, and auctions. You’ll be supported by a Sales Director, Junior Sales Associate, and Operations Manager. Moreover you’ll support satellite shows in overseas markets such as Shanghai and Hong Kong. As well as strong high value art sales experience you’ll bring energy and a hunger to hit the gallery sales targets. You’ll get excited about your share of the commission pool. 

This is a pro-active strategic sales role.

  • Develop your sales pipeline creating sales strategies to sell art works to existing clients as well generating new clients for the gallery.
  • Create and nurture institution relationships so as to place works in important art collections.
  • Represent the gallery at art fairs, art market business events, and auctions as well a satellite shows in overseas markets such as Shanghai and Hong Kong.

CRATE SHOP WORKER FOR FINE ARTS SERVICES

High-end Fine Art Service seeks a full-time employee for its crate shop. Experienced crate builder with hands-on background in the field is preferred. Ideally crater will be familiar with the varying elements involved when packing and crating fine art, but those with advanced woodworking skills will be considered. Those with carpentry, construction, or art fabrication experience will also be considered. Strong work ethic, attention to detail and the ability to work well with others are essential. Background in truck driving and forklift operation is a plus.
