The A3 Review Seeks a Guest Editor

The A3 Review is looking for a Guest Editor for Issues 12 and 13, starting immediately.

The A3 Review is a fold-out magazine that behaves like a map. Please click here to view our past issues. We publish prose, poetry and artwork. Each issue contains 12 contributions selected from entries to our monthly contests. 

You'll be involved in every stage of putting together Issues 12 and 13. You'll help to promote the monthly writing contests and select the winning entries to appear in the next two issues of The A3 Review. 

Some editing experience would be great, and considerable passion for literature, visual arts and publishing is a must. A candidate with a publication history would be a good thing. 

You'll help to choose the themes for the monthly contests, select winners from the submissions, and edit and proofread new issues of the journal. You'll communicate with contributors. You'll help to raise the profile of the journal via social media. We'd like to work with someone who has some foundation in the writing world, a web presence and no major social media phobias or reservations. 

Some of the qualities we're looking for in an editor: organisational skills, self-motivation, a proactive approach, an attention to detail, and a creative and commercial thinker. The job requires no more than 15 hours a month, and there's a small fee of £200 (approx $250) per month. This is a remote job, so we welcome candidates from anywhere in the world.

Magazine Advertising Sales Executive

LA’s preeminent  bi-monthly, glossy contemporary art magazine is seeking an advertising sales rep based in a western neighborhood of Los Angeles.

This role is commission-based, with flexible hours and working from your home.

This is a unique opportunity to learn about the business of art, become thoroughly knowledgeable with SoCal’s galleries and museums, and to create new accounts of your own in industries connected to art. Print and digital advertising are still an essential part of the art world and our ad sales team is central to the magazine's success and longevity. We are thirteen years strong! 

If you love art and have an outgoing personality, please send us a cover letter as to why you are interested the advertising position along with your resume. Sales experience is preferred but not required. Most important is a person that is curious, self-motivated, has a positive attitude and a great sense of humor. Plenty of perks come with working with this organization.

We provide training, email templates and data. We set you up for success.

You will be working under the magazine’s publisher.

Preferred Start Date: January 14, 2020

Requirements: 

Approximate 2 hours per day for 3 weeks every other month. We are on a bi-monthly sales cycle. The workload lessens every other month.

Around 3 to 4 times a month every other month we would like you to visit art centers and galleries in person, “out in the field.”

Organization Skills. An ideal sales rep keeps a record of who they have contacted, who to follow up with and when.

Good instincts of when to reconnect with advertisers and when to give them space to review proposals.

Must have a car and be comfortable driving at times to 3 or 4 galleries in a day.

Must be social and someone who loves talking to people and attending art events.

Must dress professionally while representing an art magazine and attend art openings of clients and potential clients.

Smartphone and comfortable with digital, written and phone communication.

Be a part of one the most exciting art institutions in LA and a pillar of art journalism on the West Coast as Artillery’s Marketing Intern.

Desired start date: January 16, 2020.

Requirements:

-Must have Photoshop/ and or InDesign/ and or Illustrator experience.

-Creating engaging, creative social media assets and simple PDFS are a vital part of the role.

-Some knowledge of Constant Contact highly preferred.

-Must be able to spend approximately 2-4 hours on social media per week…and enjoy it!

-Interest, enjoyment, comfort with and enthusiasm for attending art openings and other art events.

-Ability or interest in creating videos is a plus.

-A creative thinker and a positive attitude.

-We love a person with ideas, an organized mind, and an attention to detail. We prefer a people-person, who likes meeting and engaging with art professionals and artists, or wants to get better at it.

-A sense of humor. We’re a fun group of people.
