Tanya Leighton seeks an experienced Gallery Manager to oversee the smooth and efficient operation of the gallery and its programme. A successful candidate will speak both English and German fluently, proving experience of working in a fast-moving office environment. Reporting to the directors, they will fulfill a key role supervising all office and front of house activities as part of a busy team of full and part-time staff.

 Candidate specifications:

•  Minimum of 2 years experience working as a Gallery Manager or similar position

•  A comprehensive understanding of the parameters of working in a commercial gallery

•  Ability to support team members and artists in all areas of the production, exhibition and promotion of artwork

•  Proven ability to work to tight deadlines and budgets.

•  Excellent organisational skills with proven experience of staff management

•  Confidence to delegate tasks and supervise their progress and timely completion

•  Confident independent worker, who follows guidelines and instructions closely without oversight

•  Excellent written, copy-editing and presentation skills in both English and German is essential

•  Proficiency with Mac operating systems, Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign

•  Experience of managing a cloud-based database system

•  Fast learner able to pick-up the operation of new systems in an efficient and timely manner

•  Smartly presented with a polite and positive demeanor

•  The Gallery Manager will work closely with the Directors, Project Manager, Registrar, Finance Manager, Technician and Gallery Assistants

 Tasks and Responsibilities:

•  Manage the Gallery front of House, ensuring exhibitions are open, running smoothly and gallery spaces always have sufficient staff coverage during opening hours

•  Manage all preparations for exhibition openings and events

•  Field inquiries from institutions, curators and private clients

•  Respond to and fulfill all image and press requests

•  Provide general assistance to the Directors and Project Manager

•  Update and maintain the gallery archive, database and rolodex

•  Field incoming calls in English and German, allocating them to the correct member of staff

•  Manage the delegation of office tasks including mail, scanning and filing

•  Liaise with external providers and suppliers (internet, phone etc) to arrange repairs and maintenance as necessary

•  Collation of presentation documents and files

•  Ensure the office is always clean, tidy and most productive

•  Ensure stationary and office supplies are maintained

•  Attend weekly team meetings and take notes of actions

•  Maintain office diary and shared calendar

•  Make travel and accommodation bookings for staff, artists and guests

•  Project management of off-site events including dinners and parties

•  Undertake and supervise any necessary research required

•  Prepare schedule and information for visiting artists and guests

•  Organise training and induction sessions for new staff members

•  Devise and implement the gallery press strategy for each exhibition or event

•  Maintain the artist CVs, press packs and portfolios, updating in a timely manner

•  Manage all gallery social media channels and public exhibitions listings

•  Uphold the gallery standards in all communications, both internal and external

•  Support all other members of the team as required

Esther Schipper is seeking a full time Preparator.

Job Description

The Preparator performs all duties related to exhibition preparation; including but not limited to: installation, de-installation, packing, shipping, and receiving artwork and coordination of necessary schedule and materials. 

Organizational Relationship

The Preparator reports to the head of Registrar and works closely with the Registrar and Production department.


The Preparator works with project manager, registrar, and other related staff on the installation, deinstallation, and travel of exhibits such as art fairs and assists in the evaluation of incoming and outgoing artwork.

The Preparator is responsible for packing, unpacking, and crating of art objects, as well as purchasing supplies, assisting with environmental monitoring, and maintenance and organization of art storage areas and exhibit preparation/fabrication workshop.

The Preparator performs installations of art in all media using accepted museum standards and practice, assists in art inventories and supervises/ trains contract installation workers and volunteers.

The Preparator also assists with annual budget preparation with regards to materials and exhibit installation requirements; couriers objects and travels to art fairs or special client deliveries for installation, as needed.

The Preparator must have excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to see projects through to completion, work structured; ability to apply creative methods to solve installation problems with an attention to detail; ability to work well both as part of a team and under own direction; ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines; and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Skills and Requirements

  • Experience or familiarity with the principles and practices of inventory management
  • Skill in art handling and crating, carpentry and fabrication, and/or exhibit preparation Records maintenance skills, Ability to package products for shipping/delivery 
  • Knowledge of art storage and display methods, techniques, and procedures
  • Proficiency in basic computing, including Microsoft Office software and Artlogic, preferred
  • Proficiency in photography and design software, e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Publisher, Sketch-up, desired
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding, ability to lift/move heavy objects, excellent eyes-hands coordination to examine and handle delicate objects
  • Ability to work unscheduled overtime during periods of installation/deinstallation
  • Language skills: English or German fluent (second language min. B2)
  • Driver´s license B


Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) as well as successfully completed professional training in the trades or logistics sector with some engineering or carpentry skills, knowledge of museum standards regarding the care and handling of objects, with a minimum of two years of experience with the care and handling of fine art objects in a museum or gallery setting

The position will be full-time, from 10am to 6pm daily, Monday through Friday, in addition to attendance at openings and events.

We are a Berlin art start-up looking for a Graphic Design intern who is passionate about visual communication and the arts! coGalleries is a hub of Berlin-based international artists. We organize art tours in Berlin that take our guests to the best galleries and directly to artist studios in Berlin.

We are seeking a young graphic designer who will become an integral part of our content creation team. You will be responsible for designing sample tours on our new website, brochures, flyers for the tours, press kits, and other promotional products and merchandises.

It will be a full-time internship position for the first 3 months. After that we hope that you can become a permanent member of the team.

What we are looking for?
