Minnesota Street Project Art Services, an innovative, class-leading art-handling & collection care company in San Francisco, seeks a proactive and innovative person to strategize, develop and manage key client relationships, business development, and marketing outreach.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

• Oversee key client relationships to assure overall satisfaction and to enable proactive accommodation of client needs.

• Bear principal responsibility for business development strategy, including identification of and outreach to new clients, and ongoing relationship maintenance.

• Contribute to the definition and implementation of new services and offerings to facilitate company growth and greater client reach and satisfaction.

• Oversee Client Services Associate and contribute directly, or as necessary, in responding to client inquiries and filtering requests to appropriate departments through a streamlined workflow.

• Develop proposals and estimates for major clients and projects, following through to completion.

• Work with project management, registration, and operations departments as necessary to recommend proper scheduling and allocation of company resources, definition of service offerings, and resolution of resource and priority conflicts.

• Manage Minnesota Street Project Art Services’ on-line presence in conjunction with the Minnesota Street Project web team and oversee all external communications to properly represent the company’s products and services, solicit inputs that facilitate client response and project set-up & management, and use online tools to extend and expand the company’s offerings.

• Network to build and maintain the company’s relationships with members of the Bay Area visual arts community, including galleries, artists, museums, and nonprofits, and work with other members of the Minnesota Street Project team to define and execute programs that make a positive contribution to the community.

• Generally represent Minnesota Street Project Art Services and the Minnesota Street Project in a positive, approachable, and collaborative way.

• Establish, train, and consult departments on client-facing protocols & standards and ensure they are upheld & observed under all circumstances, taking over or managing client interactions when warranted

 

Key Qualifications:

• At least 3-years experience in a client-facing role in the visual arts field.

• Understanding of the art-handling and collection care needs of demanding, high-end collectors, galleries, and institutions and appreciation for what high-quality client service entails.

• Ability and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to productively and effectively manage a flexible schedule to account for responsibilities regularly falling outside of normal business hours.

• Demonstrated ability to innovate and creatively problem-solve.

• Friendly, outgoing personality and a desire to meet and engage with a wide variety of people.

• Familiarity with office and on-line technology, tools, and platforms, including databases, spreadsheets, CRM systems, etc.

 

Salary commensurate with experience and local industry norms.

Minnesota Street Project Art Services, an innovative, class-leading art-handling & collection care company in San Francisco, seeks an experienced, proactive, multi-tasking, and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee client projects in collaboration with our team.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

• Exhibits a friendly and approachable demeanor with all Minnesota Street Project clients, staff, and vendors, acting as a positive ambassador for Art Services, as well as the overall Project; maintains excellent relationships with clientele, including collectors, galleries, institutions, consultants, and other arts professionals, ensuring industry-leading client satisfaction.

• Receives both direct and indirect client inquiries, and responds in a timely manner to review job scope and requirements and prepare and present estimates. Follows through with clients to convert estimates to jobs

• Produces applicable resource requirements and timelines for jobs; uses our CRM to estimate, enter in pertinent job details; In collaboration with the Project Coordinator and Warehouse Coordinator, calendars and produces field documents, Schedules preliminary site-visits, mid-job check-ins, and client meetings when appropriate.

• In collaboration with our Project Coordinator and Warehouse Coordinator, prepares art handlers in advance of their assignment and/or supports their needs while in the field, explaining/clarifying the details of the overall job, helping to proactively resolve issues that may arise, and when necessary, resolving client disputes.

• Collaborates with other departments to request scheduling in-house, job-related work orders (WOs).

• In collaboration with MSPAS staff, ensures all necessary documents are created in advance of each job, including bills of lading (BOLs), work orders, artwork pull sheets, attached artwork images, certificates of insurance (COIs), condition reports, and any other documentation relevant for the field team’s success.

• Sources and secures necessary job-related artwork authorizations, extended liability agreements, vehicle or machinery rentals, specialized packing materials, and the like in collaboration with Operations, Registration, and scheduling staff.

• Reviews monthly invoices for managed jobs, ensuring billed charges are within the original quoted range and addresses billing questions with clients

• Takes an active role in following up on jobs and other client interactions to ensure client satisfaction. Works with Client Development and Relationship manager to ensure that we understand current and upcoming needs of current and prospective clients and that they understand our current and upcoming offerings.

• Attends weekly department meetings, as well as occasional programming events at 1275 Minnesota Street.

• Performs other related duties as required.

 

Reports to Head Project Manager

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years experience in a fine art services organization, museum, or gallery; minimum 3 years experience as a dispatcher, project coordinator, project manager, or equivalent; hands-on field experience;

• Ability to quickly identify and resolve problems, effectively prioritize, and manage time efficiently, ensuring projects stay on schedule.

• Demonstrated concern for detail, accuracy and precise execution of work; excellent communication skills, both verbally and written; highly organized.

• Proficient with PC and Mac operating systems and software, including Adobe and Microsoft Suites and Filemaker Pro; knowledgeable with the G Suite, AutoCAD, Sketchup, and CRMs a plus.

DEPARTMENT: Playhouse

REPORTS TO: Production Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Scenic Charge (SC) for the Pittsburgh Playhouse is a 10 month (August thru May) position responsible for accomplishing, supervising and coordinating the scenic paint and treatments for the Pittsburgh Playhouse and GRW in support of Playhouse events and productions. The SC ensures safe and proper use and maintenance of all theatrical painting and application materials. The SC works in conjunction with the Production Manager and other production heads to develop production schedules, over hire and staffing needs, budget needs, and advance work with designers, directors, and artists’ representatives for a wide variety of performances and events. The SC mentors students and supervises full-time, part-time, and over-hire production staff within the paint department. This position may teach as an overload consistent with Point Park University policies

REQUIREMENTS: 

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with a minimum 3 year related professional work experience as a theatre artisan in a producing theatre or performing arts facility. Skilled at painting techniques and applications, mechanical skills in the use of hand and power tools. Supervisory skills and the ability to read and interpret ground plans required. Strong oral and written communications skills and the ability to instruct on material relevant to scenic applications is required. 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the artistic integrity of all paint and surface applications for all playhouse productions & events to the satisfaction of designers and production manager.

Oversees and mentors students enrolled in theatre practicum including apprentice, federal work studies and production students by instructing and supervising them in the technical aspects and safety procedures of the scenic paint department. Assigning tasks to student assistants and crews, supervising students in the operation of various technical theatre assignments.

Oversee and maintain facility areas and support all events within Playhouse production as it relates to the scenic paint department.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Working Environment: Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings.

Physical Demands: Job requires repetitively lifting average weight objects with repetitive bending and stooping. Frequently lifts heavy objects but alternating with lighter activities. Job may require physical exertion such as long periods of standing. Job may require above-average agility and dexterity. Frequent work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions. Hashimoto Contemporary seeks an experienced gallery director to manage and lead our San Francisco location. This position requires a well rounded individual who can balance a multifaceted role comprising sales, client relations, artist management and event planning, while coordinating simultaneously with our New York City gallery location and our East Bay production and shipping facility. Candidates must be able to pivot between back-end administrative tasks and forward-facing client relations, we are looking for someone who is both organized and personable. A passion for the arts and a sense of humor is a must.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree required.

- Minimum four years of experience in the arts preferred.

- Proficiency in ArtLogic, Artsy, Adobe Suite, Mac OS, Google Business Suite preferred.

- This is a complex job with many moving parts, so excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

- You will be working alongside other directors, while also managing an assistant of your own, so prior management experience is preferred

- Selling artwork online by pursuing sales leads, following up on inquiries, developing new clients, and maintaining existing collector relationships.
- Maintaining the gallery website, database, and social media platforms.

- Participating actively in the local art scene by regularly visiting artist studios, attending museum events, art fairs and other gallery openings.
