Skinner is seeking a motivated and talented individual to join our Warehouse team. A competitive applicant should have experience in the field, enjoy a dynamic workplace, and have excellent communication skills. This role comes with long days when necessary, in order to get the job at hand finished; some night and weekend work; must be available to work auctions as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Unloading and loading trucks arriving or departing our locations
  • Packing/unpacking, and binning property.
  • Inventory and database management
  • Managing pickups by clients, shippers, and third parties
  • Moving property to assist with photoshoots
  • Exhibition setup for public previews
  • Assisting clients during auctions and previews.
  • Assisting the Transportation Department as needed
  • Responsible for an auction duty (phone bidding, clerking, etc.)
  • Providing excellent customer service in a professional manner and problem solve in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift minimum 80 lbs
  • Willingness to endure long days when necessary in order to get the job at hand finished
  • Ability to understand, follow and execute written and/or verbal instructions
  • Flexibility in performing different tasks
  • Must operate with a sense of urgency, and have attention to detail
  • Must be self-disciplined and have the ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Picking up and packing property from our customers' homes, storage facilities, museums, etc.
  • Transferring property to our Boston Gallery when necessary

Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing a plan for sustaining existing, and creating new business
  • Managing departmental marketing communications and public relations; liaising with Skinner corporate Marketing Department
  • Managing departmental budget, expenses, revenue and profit; liaising with Skinner corporate Finance Department
  • Providing appraisal services including object identification and valuation; liaising with Skinner corporate Appraisal Services Department
  • Overseeing inquiries for auction, consignment and appraisals services
  • Providing auction support, including research, estimating auction value, cataloging, supporting photography of items for auction and providing detailed condition reports for prospective bidders
  • Liaising into the full Skinner auction schedule

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience identifying, appraising and cataloging decorative arts and furniture in an auction house, gallery, museum or related field 
  • Attention to detail, aesthetic sense, can-do attitude, ability to juggle multiple tasks, adhere to strict deadlines, and work collaboratively as a team member a must
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; end-user proficiency with online and social media platforms such as Pinterest, Facebook, and Twitter
  • Ability to learn existing Auction and Inventory Management System 
  • Responsibility for Profit & Loss a plus

Skinner is seeking a talented, versatile full-time Graphic Designer to join the fast-paced auction environment. We are seeking a personable, detail-oriented individual who has the skillset and desire to further the growth of this important area. The designer will lead the creative team. This includes strategically developing design and branding concepts for digital and print media, executing, and working with internal stakeholders to ensure timelines are met. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop design concepts for company and department branding to present to internal stakeholders. Carry out the execution of these projects 
  • Provide art direction to designers and other collaborators ensuring we deliver a high level of strategy and consistent design across the company 
  • Design printed and digital assets including direct mail brochures, branded corporate materials, large-format graphics, marketing campaign material, digital ads, and content for company website and social profiles 
  • Design and produce auction catalogs from start to finish, incorporating images, text, feature pages and other supporting content 
  • Work with department specialists and photography team to communicate project priorities and timelines 
  • Archive completed files and locate/organize digital assets  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or related area of study 
  • 5+ years of branding, print and digital design experience, and the ability to execute from concept to delivery 
  • A portfolio of previous design work that demonstrates skills 
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign and Photoshop 
  • Experience working with Mailchimp, Adwords and WordPress 
  • Experience with website design, digital advertising and social media platforms 
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment and juggle several projects at once 
  • Articulate verbal and written communication skills
