- About -

My work uproots and exposses materials of the earth in a symbiotic relationship to the body to feel authentic to my complex experiences with the emotive fragility, transformation, cycles, and form. As the body is a site for getting lost or coming home as my process speaks to the futility of the human will. Fascinated by nature, and convinced myself that if I moved my body in a series of movements, and objects from my natural environment, I could unlocked something magical. My body is a gateway for exploration through my experience as Discus and Hammer athlete competing at UCLA, dancer, Yogini, and artist. These experiences inform material, process, and motion. From these repetitive motions weave into ritual is the intersection where theory and practice converse with art and science. Teaching and art making go hand in hand. I cannot have one without the other. When I teach, my sole purpose is to discover the needs of each individual, to help them discover who they are with a unique creative process. Teaching allows me to move outside of myself and connects me to the world. Art and social progress do not exist in a vacuum, we move as a human collective, and I believe that a great teacher is always learning and evolving along with their students.
