THE ART OF ACTIVISM — POSTER MAKING WORKSHOP via ZOOM by Guerrilla Girls On Tour

FRIDAY, June 26, 2020 from Noon to 4PM EST (limited to 12 participants)

Address issues affecting you within your community, in the nation, or across the globe in this 4 hour poster-making workshop with Aphra Behn and Guerrilla Girls On Tour. The workshop begins with a discussion of the intersection of activism and art. Participants engage in sharing ideas about what makes a good piece of protest art, while the Girls share the evolution and philosophy behind some of their most famous posters and street theater actions. Participants break out into small groups to work collaboratively on creating a new work of activist art. Works in progress are then presented and discussed. The workshop ends with a planning session that walks participants through the process of distributing their new activist art works. Topics in this workshop include the art of collaboration, how to gather stats, generate ideas, fund projects, ensure response and guarantee momentum. “Turn your Attitude to Action” also sheds light on the use of storytelling to weave together the fabric of a movement designed to effect change. For anyone with an interest and/or passion for combing activism and art.
