NYC Performance Test Kitchen – A Feedback Workshop for Performers

Type:

City:

Description:

NYC Performance Test Kitchen is an in-person, feedback-driven performance development initiative based in New York City. We create small, curated group workshops where stand-up comedians, songwriters, spoken word arists and performance artists can test work-in-progress in front of attentive peers.

Rather than formal teaching or industry critique, performers receive anonymous, structured written feedback alongside a facilitated peer discussion focused on attention, clarity, and impact—helping artists understand how their work is landing and where it can be strengthened.

Pilot Structure

NYC-based, in-person sessions - 6–8 performers per workshop (invite-only) - Short performances (5–7 minutes, often repeated within a session)

Structured written feedback paired with moderated discussion

Potential for follow--on sessions each month

What This Is Not

An open mic

A class or critique led by an instructor

A showcase or industry night

A casual or drop-in hang

There will be a sliding scale fee ($5 - $25) to cover facilitation, space, and admin. Participation is curated but intentionally cross-disciplinary, The focus is on attentive listeners, structured response, and space to refine the work.

The goal of NYC Performance Test Kitchen is to support sustained artistic development, allow for thoughtful feedback outside of institutional settings and encourage a sense of collective craft-building..
