This course is designed to help total beginngers develop basic throwing skills and to help existing learners build on existing skills and develop these further. Learner requests are encouraged for new techniques to be shown and/or recapped where appropriate.

Suitable for all levels, no prior knowledge of pottery is required to attend this course. The course is ideal for beginners or for those who have some understanding of wheel throwing and would like to improve their skills.

The course will cover the basics of preparing and cetering clay, throwing a range of basic forms (cylinders & bowls), turning and trimming work, how to attach handles (where appropriate to skill level), basic decoration skills and how to glaze work.

All equipment, decoration and glaze materials are included, we do make a small charge (priced per kilo) for the clay used before the first firing only. You should bring an apron, suitable clothing and you are encouraged to build up your own basic ceramic toolkit.
