PRESS RELEASE

NYC ARTWALK @nycartwalk & At The Art Fair @attheartfair will bring art to QUEENS: LIC & Astoria, and to Greenpoint, BROOKLYN: in the Spring of 2021, with an art walk destined to support local businesses.

No original works will be displayed, only weather resistant posters will be displayed on storefronts and restaurant fences of participating businesses.

There is no fee for businesses to participate, instead, NYC ARTWALK & At The Art Fair will feature the businesses paired with their artists!

Businesses located in LIC, Astoria and Greenpoint interested in participating should contact

The art walk will feature art from around the world, in a contactless, outdoor art walk that will help connect local businesses with community members and art lovers, in a safe, contactless manner adhering to health and safety regulations.

Loretta Kaufman Receives Medal of Honor in the National Association of Women Artists’ 131st Annual Members’ Exhibition

Loretta Kaufman’s stoneware sculpture Double Monologues I:  The Celia Series won the NAWA Medal of Honor and the Florence & Irwin Zlowe Memorial Award in the Annual Members’ Exhibition October 1 – December 30, 2020.  There are 254 notable paintings, works on paper, sculpture, mixed media, fiber, digital, collage and photography produced by NAWA members nationwide in the online exhibition.  Over $10,000 was awarded to 37 artists at the Virtual Reception and Awards Ceremony on October 8th.  Artist Panels are scheduled in October for each of the award categories with speakers discussing their award-winning work as well as inspiration and aspiration in the Zoom meeting.  The exhibition can be viewed by visiting https://www.thenawa.org.

Founded in 1889, NAWA is the first established professional women’s art organization in the United States.  NAWA’s existence is a testament to the integral and essential role of dynamic, talented and visionary women artists in the art world.  Documented exhibitions are archived within the Smithsonian Institution Archives, The Whitney Museum of Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Library of Congress, among others.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

In nearly five decades, Nashville sculptor and painter, Loretta Ana Kaufman, has produced work in wood, fiber, metal, clay and paint.  In 2017 she was presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award for her sustained involvement in the visual arts.   In 2018 Loretta’s oil painting was published in the book of poetry “Gate Posts with No Gate – The Leg Paint Project” which carries an endorsement from author and curator Sean Hemingway.  Her paintings and sculptures have been exhibited worldwide including at INDEX Dubai 2018, Dubai World Trade Center, UAE.  In 2018, she received the Cutting Edge Award (all media) for her acrylic painting in NAWA’s 129th Annual Members’ Exhibition in New York.  In 2019, her 3D sculpture received an Honorable Mention in NAWA’s Sculpture On & Off The Wall, also in Manhattan.  The Tennessee Arts Commission in Nashville curated a retrospective of Loretta’s paintings, works on paper, sculpture and collage in 2020.  Loretta’s sculptures and paintings have been exhibited and received awards in Fusion Arts’ international exhibitions since 2015.
