Statement :
Manuel Quaresima (1996) is a self-taught sculptor who primarily works with iron, transforming industrial and mechanical materials into human figures charged with tension and symbolic evocation. After a long career in metalworking, he embarked on independent artistic research that led him to develop a personal language, in which raw material becomes a vehicle for metamorphosis and spirituality. His works explore the relationship between suffering and rebirth, fragility and strength, creating fragmented and dynamic bodies that emerge as testimonies of resilience. He has exhibited in Italy and abroad, taking part in major international events including the 2025 London Biennale (Chelsea Old Town Hall, curated by Gagliardi Gallery) and the Chianciano Biennale, where he won First Prize in the Sculpture section. His works have also been presented in group exhibitions curated by independent spaces and private galleries. He currently works full-time on his artistic research, creating sculptures ranging from intimate creations to monumental projects for public and private spaces. His art seeks to transform iron into narration, making the material a witness to metamorphosis, memory and vital tension.
