Statement :
My work focuses on compositions made live, using physical surfaces as canvases to express my vision. I create immersive audiovisual pieces through video jockey and video mapping techniques, ranging from site-specific installations to live performances. By transforming these surfaces with dynamic displays of light, I project neon pigments in the form of lines and shapes. My compositions blend video, audio, and recyclable materials, combining hand-drawn elements and recycled objects with computer-generated projections to witness the intersection of the digital, the real, and the spiritual.
I delve into themes of individuality, collectivity, and nature, drawing inspiration from my Andean roots and intuition. Observing the interactions between myself, others, and the spiritual connections found in nature, guided by the principle that chaos equals harmony. My creative process begins with an idea, sparked by intuition and the sounds of the moment. These elements serve as catalysts for inspiration. I experiment with materials and tools to capture my vision on paper, drawing on my experiences to develop and adapt the works I present. This process allows me to immerse myself fully in each idea, building my own universe and sharing it through audiovisual form. It drives me toward a philosophical, immersive experience. Although I studied environmental engineering, my primary tool is the video projector. I’ve recently begun experimenting with a new material—a dichroic mirror, a component from inside a projector—which I use to create recycled pieces.
When I started, I had no formal training in what I was doing, but my passion led me to learn, develop my own methods, and engage in self-analysis. Eventually, I reached a point where I embraced myself as an artist and found satisfaction in my work. I believe my roots, background, and the way I confront my attitude with my experiences make my work unique.
Through this approach, I aim to involve the visitor in an immersive journey, subtly transitioning their experience. The combination of sound and pigmentation naturally alters the mood, and I find joy in that transformation.
