Statement :

The picture has no clear beginning, as life does not begin with Birth. Everything is interconnected. I carry images in my body until I dance them. The creation process reminds me of the ripe fruit offered to be eaten.

The movement, when embodied, still is one of the most profound, pure, and authentic areas of western society that has not yet been as brainwashed by the consumer society and the Western way of life as the appearance of a body, body itself, and the way of life are.

The body can never be isolated, so it is always connected to space, nature, other bodies, objects, and the world. The body always is involved, and when the body is embodied, every move is an action. As the embodied body is subversive, so is art, created through the embodied practice of movement.

Creation is feeling, expressing, not knowing, letting go, and being as an embodied dance with color.  A path constantly changing. My painting approach is body intuition art, which is attached to body awareness, action, and abstract expressionism.

I’m a brush; I’m a color. I’m a lane, shape, and space between. I am a creative spirit that wants to be printed on the fabric as an image. And you may call it a painting.

Bio:

Nina Stopar (1982) studied Philosophy and the Slovenian language in Ljubljana. She was a teacher for almost ten years. In 2016 she attained an MA in Aesthetics (mentor Lev Kreft). She studied contemporary art and claimed that nowadays, more than ever before, the artist himself has to become the artwork. She then dedicated her life to art more professionally, completing an MA in Painting at the Academy of Fine Art and Design in Ljubljana in 2021.

As a teacher of the 5Rhythms movement practice, she believes movement is the gateway to creativity, abstraction, and the artistic self. She explores abstraction as the dance of intuition of the body in motion.
Lives and works in Žerjav and Ljubljana, Slovenia.
