This is not your typical formal artist statement…

Born and raised in “cedemex” — or Mexico City as the rest of the world knows it— currently living “the life of an artist” in the beautiful Spanish capital of Madrid...

Back in 2023 I decided to make a revolutionary switch —and I’m not talking Nintendo; I mean in terms of professional development—and go from 8 years of hard work in the football industry, including some of its most elite and prestigious institutions in both Mexico and Spain, to fully pursue my other passion and scout the beautiful mysteries art has to offer for those who practice it with purpose…

I guess it made sense based on the artsy genes I inherited from my first painting teacher—my father’s watercolour specialist father—, the lack of understanding from my peers on why I was working in football after they would see my hidden sketching abilities, and the fierce creative drive that has been exponentially growing in me after enduring some devastating and very well landed uppercuts life threw at me…

Since then, I have invested my time remembering the valuable lessons from my art teachers from both high school and my brief time in art school, to help me find and develop my own style as an artist…

Hours, days, weeks, months, even years, perfecting my drawing & painting technique, defining my approach in photography, meticulously curating my music game as a source of inspiration, and curiously exploring other different art forms, to ultimately find a way to blend them all together in my artwork:

Highly detailed and visually aesthetic conceptual compositions portraying powerful and attractive imagery aiming to kindle a spectrum of feelings to the viewer’s experience…

As accurate as it gets when it comes to me defining the style of my work in professional art lexicon and terminology…

In more colloquially poetic terms, here is what I do:

1. Capture some of the most impactful scenes life throws at me with the help of my already outdated artificial eye Apple decides to keep improving year after year…

2. Find a concept worth diving into, and creatively arrange together the thoughts my mind understands, the feelings my heart experiences, and the surprises my eyes encounter from it…

3. Present my findings inside the limitless possibilities offered by the whiteness of a canvas, and create an impactful product in the shape of a painting done with a fine paintbrush and acrylics, my weapons of choice…

The star of my pieces is no specific character, but life itself; seen through the filter of the experiences I was assigned to live…

All driven by a powerful purpose with messages hovering around the concepts of self love and discovery, dream chasing, potential pursuit, evolution enjoyment, or adversity overcome, to hopefully serve as a source of inspiration to those who dare to discover their own individuality and follow the path of a dreamer…

Plus, there’s the passion-fuelled, consciously-intentional and disciplined quality-oriented work ethic chasing constant progress and improvement I apply, looking to keep pushing myself to deliver a wide variety of excellence in my paintings, produce pleasurable sensations of satisfaction, and, if I’m lucky, even create unexpected connections with the ones who take a minute to inspect and appreciate the artwork…

As an emerging artist, this is just the beginning of a long term ambitious vision; my life’s work, my future legacy, my art, my individuality, my true self, me, Joso, artist…
