The Birds, E11
The Birds E11 graphic illustration is inspired by the facade of 527-529 High Road Leytonstone. This building sits adjacent to Alfred Hitchcock’s birthplace and features a dramatic mural that celebrates one of his most famous films. In this illustration the birds take flight off of the front of the building as Hitchcock waves goodbye to a London bus.
Oceanografic, Valencia
Oceanogràfic is an oceanarium found in the east of the city of Valencia in Spain. The Oceanografic was designed by the architect Félix Candela and the structural engineers Alberto Domingo and Carlos Lázaro. It was completed c2003. This work is part of a larger collection documenting important and iconic cultural buildings from around the world. Each work captures the form, profiles and details that provide a unique identity and image, often inseparable from the institution it houses.
Thamesmead 01
Thamesmead 01 is a patchwork of the brutalist facades found on the Thamesmead South estate, in the London borough of Bexley. The estate was built between the late 1960s and early 1970s as a post-war modernist vision of living. The estate was made famous as the backdrop for Stanley Kubrick’s controversial film A Clockwork Orange (1971). After falling into serious disrepair the area and buildings are now undergoing major regeneration.
Speed House, Barbican
Speed House is part of the Modern House London print collection celebrating some of the most inspiring modernist housing from the 30's to the 70's found in the capital city. This striking repeat print is inspired by the facade of Speed House on the Barbican Estate, Central London. Speed House is a terrace block located on the north-east corner of the estate, running east to west between The Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Willoughby House. Completed 1969.
Pompidou Centre, Paris
The Pompidou Centre is located in the Beaubourg area of the 4th arrondissement of Paris. It houses the Public Information Library; the largest museum for modern art in Europe; and IRCAM, a centre for music and acoustic research. It is designed by the architectural team of Richard Rogers, Renzo Piano and Gianfranco Franchini. This print is part of a larger collection of prints documenting important and iconic cultural buildings from around the world. Each work captures the form, profiles and details that provide a unique identity and image, often inseparable from the institution it houses.
