Statement :
Schall's work confronts the erosion of women's autonomy in an era that demands hypersexualization while also brutalizing women for it, as their appearances eclipse their contributions amid dramatic wage disparities. Her paintings combat the male gaze by repositioning viewers at angles that disrupt traditional power dynamics, using saturated palettes and precise rendering to elevate the female body from commodity to authority. These works demand recognition of women's inherent power, creating spaces where their complexity cannot be simplified and their autonomy cannot be negotiated.

About
Born in Colorado, 1985 Schall attended Colorado State University and received her BFA in 2008. Once she graduated, she moved directly to NYC where she worked initially as an art assistant. Soon after, Schall embarked on her own career, focusing on photorealistic drawings and paintings. After seven years in NYC, she relocated to New Orleans. A near-crippling neck injury left her unable to draw or paint for several years. Eventually she was able to rehabilitate and relearn how to paint and draw. Along the way, Schall began sewing to regain mobility and dexterity in her hand and arm. Through this she developed a passion for creating wearable art. She incorporates this new found skill set by sewing the gloves she uses as imagery in her paintings. Her work has been recognized both nationally and internationally and has been featured in Flaunt Magazine, Harper's Bazaar, Juxtapose Magazine, on the E! channel, as well as being listed as a forefront artist by the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
