Carlos Luna James, aka MGOGLKTKO, is a multimedia artist who uses science fiction and fantasy to explore the nuances of perception of virtual and physical space through art and technology. By merging sculpture, video projection, animation, and sound, his unending storytelling creates immersive experiences. The artist wants us to consciously let go of what we perceive as reality and in that state of trance he opens an opportunity to connect to other possible parallel reality.
Interested in realms of reality and simulation, fascinated by alter states of consciousness such as dreaming, trance, hypnosis, meditation, and the effects of psychedelic drugs, Carlos uses these transcendental experiences as inspiration for his work. In it, he explores cultural diversity and subsequent hybridization as a fertile soil for cultivating positive human emotions, such as kindness and empathy, and sees the ability to migrate whether in reality or simulation as an opportunity to explore visions of utopian worlds.
Incorporating digital screens, projectors, video mapping, laser cutting, and 3D printing in his creative process, the artist combines traditional workmanship techniques with technology and creative innovation, executing every detail with architectural precision.
MGOGLKTKO (pronounced ma’go gala’ktiko, means Galactic Wizard in English) is the artist’s alter ego, a fictional nomadic character from light-years away, a spiritual shaman who was able to connect with the Higher Consciousness, travel through multi-dimensional portals and become a human hybrid capable to morph into beasts with superpower. Through his journey he connected with an ancient civilization named “The Cosmic Beasts”, a group with similar goals and unique superpowers. They formed “The New Alliance”–a social movement that strives to share and promote empathy, love, and happiness to human civilization. Together they share a virtual world named Xama-Totek, a true ecosystem where empathy, love, and consciousness are used to create what is called the “Universal Language”, a way to live all as one. Through his work, MGOGLKTKO invites others to join the movement. His evocative fusion of hybrid entities, introspective narratives, and sophisticated environments make his experience our extended reality.

While in school, he co-created a print magazine dedicated to designers, illustrators and artists. Within two years, they were already publishing in Vancouver, Barcelona, and Mexico.
In 2007, having set an ambitious goal of becoming an independent artist and having his own studio, Carlos moved to Los Angeles. After working as a graphic designer for a few years, he joined FOX Studios as a digital art director, focusing on the development and creative implementation of innovative strategies in digital design, animation, and motion graphics to deliver premium content through storytelling. His work list includes companies such as FOX, Universal, Disney, DreamWorks, Paramount, Sony, Relativity, TNT, and TBS among others.
Throughout the years, Carlos has continued working on developing his distinctive artistic style, mainly influenced by Japanese Anime, comic books and urban art.
