Statement :
Improvisation is the thread that weaves through my work, in sound and in image. As a saxophonist, I’ve learned to trust the moment—to let intuition guide form. That same instinct drives my visual art. I paint and collage on found surfaces—cardboard, scavenged canvas—layering acrylic, oil stick, pastel, and fragments of discarded books. Shapes emerge unbidden, revealing inner landscapes and subconscious stories. These works often feel like self-portraits, not of appearance, but of memory or mood. I’m drawn to the way abstraction can carry the weight of identity and the body’s echo in space. Lately, archetypes and myth have surfaced in the work—symbols rising from the collective deep. I don’t chase meaning; I follow the spark. My process is one of listening, of letting the materials speak. Whether through music or paint, I’m after a sense of freedom—something raw, honest, and shared.
