Statement :
My work examines relativity and relationships. I use the traditional craft medium of hand embroidery to create large-scale, iridescent, abstract pieces. Themes of shadow, loneliness, inadequacy, and doubt are juxtaposed with light, support, love, and faith while being framed within the context that all relationships have specific conditions.
Semi Precious
hand-dyed, hand-embroidery
The term 'semi precious' defines an object as valuable, but only to a degree. We assign value to our relationships and values are assigned to us, confining us and creating boundaries. How do we reckon with our boundaries and the boundaries placed on us?
This work is iridescent and changes color as the viewer changes their positioning around the piece.
Soledad
hand-dyed, hand-embroidery
Created in the midst of quarantine, Soledad explores the artist's relationship with herself as she wades through the ebb and flow of anxiety, depression, and utter calm.
This work is iridescent and changes color as the viewer changes their positioning around the piece.

Confrontation
hand-embroidery
When we confront someone or ourselves, it can be blindsiding for the other person. Our confrontation is one-sided and we speak of our victimhood and innocence and our painful memories and emotions perpetrated on us.
Faith and Doubt
In every relationship there are varying degrees of faith and where faith lacks, doubt exists. They work together and without one, the other is meaningless. We cling to the faith when the doubt gets too loud and talk ourselves back into finding our faith.
