Statement :

As an interdisciplinary creator, I seek to kindle the notion of visual poetry, conceptually grounded, while fostering kinship amongst the mediums of visual art, movement, and sound. At the crux of my creative praxis lies ‘the divide of self’, the symbiosis of identifying with the LGBTQ community and an established belief system, and the ‘pursuit of shalom’, an articulation of bliss and collective human sensations.I beget my curiosities of form and material, unveil my soft thoughts of self, capture the lure of human depth and instinct, and stir conversations of unspoken taboos which were too wild for the dinner table. Recent studies in my mixed media work have investigated the anamnesis and retention of trauma, the ‘Gaga’ movement language, gay male culture, and both neon tubing and stainedglass work have been recent studies.

three.s company
graphite, brass tacks + paper collage. 24” x 18”. 2010-21 CONTEXT: Design as innate optical pleasure, holy trinity, architecture of self, halo structure, portraiture of thought, Horcruxes as scars as studs, thoughts scapes, the mind as a battlefront, past and current self-portrait, aura mapping. What makes you holy? What’s the depth that you live in? Identity owned: fractured cartilage seamed by peace. A recent work that took a self-portrait done 11 years prior and recontextualizing it within a frame of current studies also brings forward the idea of old and new self, and how memories retained their architecture.

stained glass. 14" x 9". 2019 CONTEXT: My first stained glass working, taking inspiration from Greek male figures has later become a metaphor for an assault I suffered last year. Self-portraiture fractioning, processing the broken bones while considering glass texture and solder as liquid paint - inspiring new works of self-portraiture, gay males figural forms, and mirrors as stained glass. Completed an educational scholarship with Urban Glass, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit glasshouse.
