OPEN CALL for One Month International Artist Residency in Atlantic Canada

Every year KIRA awards 6 artists with a one month residency. Artists are provided with individual studio space, comfortable housing, two prepared meals each day, a stipend and live on a historic property in a beautiful seaside town. Artists should bring all supplies and materials needed for their creative process, to ensure availability of required supplies and provisions. As part of the residency, artists will be asked to engage with the community for up to six hours a week. These engagements will vary based on skills and interest and can include a partnership with Kingsbrae Garden which is located just steps away from the residence and studios.

8th International Marianne Brandt Award

Connectedness —
Experiments on a new relationship with nature

The 8th International Marianne Brandt Award 2022 asks artists and designers how that which connects us with other living beings and habitats can be newly discovered and designed. We are looking for projects, images, and texts on cooperative, aesthetic, metaphorical, and poetic exchanging relationships with other organisms and natural existences.

How could we conceive and design connecting processes, objects, and atmospheres in this sense? How can we talk, write and tell about our existential connections in poetic and creative ways?

Earth Connected Artists

Wild Bear announces an open call for all artists to participate in "Earth Connected Artists", a juried show with a goal to inspire love for our magnificent Earth! Be a part of our much needed ECO Revolution! Wild Bear Nature Center is providing a platform for your voice in support of the earth.

Call for entries: Kodama Photo Contest

The mythical Kodama were believed to reside beneath the shifting emerald tides of an endless sea of trees in the ancient folklore of Japan, forest deities whose forms were often indistinguishable from the woods in which they made their homes. Yet Kodama also referred to the mournful cry of these spirits which resounded through the trees, an echo that carried nature’s tidings across the breadth of space and time.

The Kodama Film Festival was conceived as a means of emulating that same sense of earthly reverberation, by finding creative voices that would meaningfully reflect the wonder of the natural world onto contemporary society.
