“Out of place” is an expression that operates on multiple levels of meaning: it can describe something inappropriate, a sense of misalignment, or, in a literal sense, an element positioned in the wrong place. It is precisely this belief that the twentieth century begins to challenge. With “Fountain” (1917), Marcel Duchamp demonstrates that simply moving an object from its original context can radically transform its meaning. The “out of place” thus becomes a critical device: what appears mistaken reveals the invisible codes that govern perception and value. 

To participate in the open call, simply send an email with an abstract of your project and some images.

Re:art is a London-based interdisciplinary art and culture journal published by SPIRA9, dedicated to presenting critically engaged and sensorially driven contemporary practices.

ISSUE 4 | THE PERFORMATIVE REAL continues the curatorial trajectory of An Authentic Delirium, examining a reality that is increasingly staged, mediated, and performed. As power becomes image, persona becomes symbol, and technology simulates intimacy and life, the real no longer exists as a stable condition, but as an ongoing spectacle.

We invite artists, writers, performers, and researchers whose practices respond to performative reality, synthetic authority, mimetic life, algorithmic emotion, and contemporary spectacle.

FACES OF LOVE II

Lumen Art Gallery invites international artists to submit artworks for FACES OF LOVE II, a special competition connected to the German edition of Universal Symphony III – LOVE HEALS by Prof. Dr. Yelda Özsunar. The interdisciplinary book explores 21 aspects of love and their influence on human well-being and healing. Artists are invited to visually interpret one or more of these aspects.

One artwork will be selected for each chapter and one for the book cover. Artists may submit up to 10 artworks per aspect and may participate in multiple aspects. Submission is free of charge. Selected artists will be asked to pay a one-time processing fee. Please read all details in the Terms & Conditions on our website.

Soft Silence looks to the moments in between: the fragile pauses, whispered transitions, and muted undercurrents that often go unnoticed.

This issue traces three poetic chapters:
