Evolutionary ecology course for artists
10 daily webinars from July 14 - 25, 2025

Species is an online course for artists to learn about evolutionary ecology that features lectures form researchers around the world. It will take place over 2 weeks on-line in the summer of 2025. The program will offer daily video chats with evolutionary biologists, naturalists and artists on topics that focus on the development of life on earth and the connections between living organisms. The program will also facilitate many short one-on-one meetings with artists who make art related to wildlife. Built in to the 2 - 2.5 hours of daily programming are discussions, recommended assignments and show and tell.

photographic call for entry | art + science

Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work reflecting the theme "Art + Science" to A Smith Gallery by January 10, 2025.  The entry fee is $40 for the first 5 images and $5 for each additional image.  Forty seven images will be selected for exhibition and shown in the online gallery from February 1 to March 31, 2025.  An exhibition catalogue with all the accepted images will be available for purchase. 27 images from the total 47 images will be selected for “The 27”, a limited edition hardbound fine art book of the exhibition. The Juror’s and Director’s award winner will each receive a copy of the limited edition hardbound fine art book as well as a solo exhibition. The Visitors’ Award is $100 and is selected by most Instagram likes.
