SpeakAIR Web Residency Open Call 2020

SpeakArt has been promoting funded/free residency open calls since 2016. Despite having no physical space for engagement, our community organically grew in the last 3 years thanks to digital platforms.

While physical real-time interactions are still the essence of today’s social activities, digital space has become an alternative way for creative professionals like us to share ideas. Celebrating the limitless potential of this platform, SpeakArt is delighted to announce the launch of its first artist residency program – SpeakAIR.

We warmly invite all musicians, sound artists, sound engineers and artists from other disciplines that wish to develop a project specifically related to sound to participate in Activosónico-Experimental Sound Residencies, a program carried out by AADK Spain, with a focus on the relationship of sound and territory.

Activosónico residencies will take place in Centro Negra, the current headquarters of AADK Spain located in the town of Blanca, Murcia. They have been conceived to offer time and space for analysis and artistic research linked to music and sound, encouraging reflection upon the historical, cultural and geographical context of the region.

AADK Spain Artist Residency 2020

AADK Spain invites all artists and researchers who wish to work on the topics of body, territory and spatiality to participate in its Artistic Residency Program.

For this edition, priority will be given to those proposals that focus on an expanded concept of architecture. We propose to consider listening and modeling spaces, experimenting with ways of inhabiting and recovering the memory of places as possible lines of action.

For those interested in working with the community of Blanca, please bear in mind that projects of less than two months will not be accepted. The ability of artists to establish respectful relationships with the inhabitants and to be willing to engage in trial-error processes will be fundamental for these proposals.

Bryan Artist in Residency

The Bryan Artist in Residence will have an opportunity to live and work in one of the newly-built Kasparov Lofts, generously donated by BCS Modern. This program allows the artist to spend their time creating, experimenting, adding to their portfolio, while also providing the artist their own retail space. The term of each residency is roughly one year, May to May. The selected artist will live in a 750 square foot apartment with a downstairs work/retail area.  Housing will include utilities (water, electricity, and internet). The artist will also receive a $3,000 stipend from The Arts Council to assist with groceries, fuel, and supply purchases, paid in full at the beginning of the residency.
