Exhibition Description: Due to Covid-19 the theme of home is particularly relevant now. With the Stay at Home orders everywhere, so much of life is impacted. Home is often presumed to be a safe sanctuary or retreat that one goes to reconnect with themselves, but that is not the experience for many who face trauma and violence at home or who do not have a stable home to go to. How have the Stay at Home orders impacted this for so many people globally? How have they navigated resources and relationships from isolation? What of their physical and emotional well-being?  And what of those who cannot stay at home because they are essential in their positions or cannot take time off of work and keep their jobs?  How has this impacted their relationship to home and loved ones they want to protect there?

Juror/Curator: Jennifer Weigel is a multi-disciplinary mixed media conceptual artist. Weigel utilizes a wide range of media to convey her ideas, including assemblage, drawing, fibers, installation, jewelry, painting, performance, photography and video.  Much of her work touches on themes of beauty, identity (especially gender identity), memory & forgetting, and institutional critique.  Weigel’s art has been exhibited nationally in all 50 states and has won numerous awards. PARTIA (Promoting Art in Aintree) at the Aintree site for Liverpool University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is currently accepting submissions to our new Valentine’s Day art exhibition of 2020:

‘Positive Emotions’

Valentine’s Day and the positive emotions that come with this special day are ones that are cherished by many; it’s a day to appreciate the love and emotional connections you have, and to encourage you to make sure you express these positive emotions to your beloved.

This art exhibition aims to bring abstract & figurative colourful paintings, prints & photography to the ‘positive emotions’ felt alongside Valentine’s Day. Artists can consider many positive emotions within this theme and their artwork. For example, depictions of relationships, love, desire, family, etc.

Unlike a traditional gallery space PARTIA welcomes a variety of work from established and emerging artists, and since we're a hospital we also receive more footfall than many galleries (350,000 people walk through our hospital every year).
