Green Hill Gallery EXHIBITION SPRING 2021

Green Hill Gallery is pleased to announce the open call for the new exhibition on the topic of identity, connectivity and community. This exhibition wants to be a journey in the discovery of what identity means nowadays and how it can be influenced by changes, as well as by the way one connects with oneself, others and the outside world. It challenges artists to explore the confrontation between showing oneself to oneself and showing oneself to others.

We invite emerging and established artists working in any medium from Berlin and from all over the world to participate in this call, as long as the topic is explored through the artwork. Please be aware that, since the Green Hill Gallery is run by the non-profit organization Kulturschöpfer e.V., accepted artists living outside Berlin will have to take care of the transportation of their artworks.

The exhibition will be displayed in our Green Hill Gallery and will be part of our diverse identity project. The project will entail additional events to explore the concept of identity and connectivity from different perspectives (online and/or offline, depending on the Coronavirus regulations).

Street By Street- Digital Artist Residency

Digital Artist Residency

Without precedent and with immediate effect, society is endeavouring to understand, adapt, and evolve to a whole new concept: Social Isolation.

In this present world-wide crisis - where physical contact, day to day life, and community interaction is severely restricted - individuals are finding themselves in the new and startling reality of navigating a world of rapidly evolving social norms.

Street By Street aims to explore the personal and social geography of our neighbourhood. It seeks out creative, non-physical ways to navigate human connectivity and kindness in an effort to create a better picture of our community, to connect with those around us despite barriers, and to build stronger links for the future.

We are interested in proposals that, over a two-month period, remotely explore the concept of connecting people 'street by street' through creativity and innovation. The selected applicant will produce a body of work that investigates geographical areas in the context of the social and personal topography of those who live there.

Submissions are open worldwide and to arts collectives or researchers - anyone exploring the boundaries of art, technology, and social engagement.

• The selected artist will be given a virtual studio in Artlink's @87 digital gallery to document their exploration and offer a glimpse into their process for the duration of the residency.

• The Artist will be limited geographically to exploring any of the streets in a one-mile radius of our physical gallery space at 87 Princes Avenue, Hull, HU5 3PQ. We are interested in how connections can be made virtually that link together a street or community.

• The artist's response should focus on social-engagement and explore the connectivity and capacity of current digital tools and social platforms, whilst also exploring activities that do not exclude those within our communities who may not have access or the resources required to communicate in this way.

• The residency duration will be over two months, from the 27th April - 27th June, with Artlink producers supporting the artist remotely through the process.

Artist fee

£2,500 - This includes development and delivery over the two-month residency period and any materials.

*This figure is inclusive of any VAT the artist may incur. The artist is responsible for their own tax and National Insurance arrangements. No additional travel expenses are available.
