Banff Centre | Clifford E. Lee Choreography Award 2022

Overview
The biennial Clifford E. Lee Choreography Award, at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, is open to any emerging Canadian dance choreographer or company demonstrating exceptional talent. We are seeking new voices, ideas, and approaches to professional dance that can be supported through the award.

Established in 1978 by the Clifford E. Lee Foundation to encourage the development of Canadian choreographers. Nominees for the Clifford E. Lee Choreography Award will submit a proposal for a work that explores a contemporary approach to dance through any style. The work should be full-length, and travel to Banff with a company of no more than 15, including designers and production team members.

Dance Artist in Residence 2022 | In Person

Overview
The Dance Artists in Residence program is designed specifically for dance artists to have focused time for the creation and development of new works in Banff Centre studios, with support as desired from a faculty team of professional dance dramaturgs.

This program brings a number of dance artists to the Banff campus at the same time to work on their respective projects, while enjoying opportunities for artistic connection and exchange with peers. The residency is intended for artists working in the initial creation phase of a new work, which they will develop over the course of one or two weeks in residence.

Intercultural Indigenous Choreographers Creation Lab

Overview

This three-week lab for intercultural Indigenous choreographers and dancers focuses on re-embodiment and Indigenous voice. Departing from the belief that the body is the site of emotional, cultural, political, and spiritual history, the lab supports the exploration and creative development of personal voice and physical vocabulary. The program will explore the intersections of identity, movement, and creation.

The IICC Lab is led by esteemed faculty including Director of Dance Training, Alejandro Ronceria, a Canadian choreographer of Colombian descent and a pioneer in Indigenous dance globally. Participants for the lab will be selected from diverse Indigenous backgrounds.

Studio2 Residency Programme

The STUDIO2 of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) - a work and research space for the independent performing arts in Berlin-Kreuzberg - will offer two residencies from 2022 for individual artists or collective groups of up to five artists from the fields of dance, performing arts and performance art (also interdisciplinary) who are at the beginning of their professional career.

The two-week residencies will take place from 17 to 30 July 2022 (Summer Residency) and from 23 October to 5 November 2022 (Autumn Residency) and will enable open artistic research on a self-selected theme.

Invitation to participate

PARL invites performance art makers and groups to join 10 days research and development program in Ljubljana from 22 - 31 August 2022.

The program is open for performance art, devised theater, contemporary dance, intermedia projects and hybrid forms. PARL provides every participant a studio space and presentation venue.

PARL joins various creative practices, working methods and production models of leading Ljubljana based performance artists and producers. The course of work is focused on development of creative processes and research of performative strategies with daily feedback and training, three-day seminar, and workshops.
